Indra Nooyi attends dinner with Obama

Washington (PTI): PepsiCo chief and Indian American, Indra Nooyi, attended dinner for a select group of foreign policy experts hosted by President-elect Barack Obama, media reports has said.

(snip)

While the Website did not reveal the name of Indra Nooyi as one of the participants, Politico confirmed on its website yesterday that Indian-born Pepsi CEO was a guest at this small dinner with Obama and a handful of foreign policy experts and top aides.

Notably, an Indian American group last week urged Obama to nominate Nooyi as his Secretary of Commerce, a Cabinet post which is still vacant.

Hey Hunter!

Nice to see you. Never tried Foster's. Maybe I'll give it a shot some day. Does a "lager" give more head!?!? (lol) I'm a plain ole' "Bud" man. For me, nothing quite "hits the spot" like an ice cold Budweiser!

"Damn...does this mean I have to give up beer to start drinking Coke?"

Naaaah, anything but Pepsi, BoF! Long Live the "Brewskie," in whatever form! As a matter of fact, think I'll go crack a Bud right now. I forgot, are we allowed to drink on Sundays?? ;)

Yeah, I referred to that in post #2. It's no accident. Just found this one showing both for comparison.

> Nice to see you. Never tried Foster’s. Maybe I’ll give it a shot some day.

It’s quite nice, especially if you are used to American beer taste. Not as harsh as Canadian beer, goes down very smooth. Ice cold and out of a bottle is best: aluminum makes it taste funny I reckon.

If you do, check the label to see where it is brewed. It used to be brewed under license by Molsons in Canada (I’m talking mid-1980’s here, things may have changed) — if so, it won’t taste too different to Molson’s Canadian which kind of defeats the whole point, ay.

The real stuff is brewed in Melbourne Australia. I *believe* that was the stuff that was always sent to the US for Excise reasons, but I might be wrong about that. It pays to check, ay.

> Does a “lager” give more head!?!? (lol)

(Grin!)

> I’m a plain ole’ “Bud” man. For me, nothing quite “hits the spot” like an ice cold Budweiser!

Budweiser is considered a “luxury” brand in NZ. Last time I bought it, I got a six-pack for thirty bucks! Still, it was a nice change and a special occasion (4th July).

Pepsi’s CEO gave a speech a few years ago in which she likened America to the middle finger:

“This analogy of the five fingers as the five major continents leaves the long, middle finger for North America, and, in particular, the United States. As the longest of the fingers, it really stands out. The middle finger anchors every function that the hand performs and is the key to all of the fingers working together efficiently and effectively. This is a really good thing, and has given the U.S. a leg up in global business since the end of World War I.

“However, if used inappropriately — just like the U.S. itself — the middle finger can convey a negative message and get us in trouble. You know what I’m talking about. In fact, I suspect you’re hoping that I’ll demonstrate what I mean. And trust me, I’m not looking for volunteers to model.

“Discretion being the better part of valor...I think I’ll pass.

“What is most crucial to my analogy of the five fingers as the five major continents, is that each of us in the U.S. — the long middle finger — must be careful that when we extend our arm in either a business or political sense, we take pains to assure we are giving a hand...not the finger. Sometimes this is very difficult. Because the U.S. — the middle finger — sticks out so much, we can send the wrong message unintentionally.

“Unfortunately, I think this is how the rest of the world looks at the U.S. right now. Not as part of the hand — giving strength and purpose to the rest of the fingers — but, instead, scratching our nose and sending a far different signal.”

Finally! We are boycotting something that I actually use. My family just bought its last Pepsi product.

I that case, I will try & search out the "real deal." ("Aussie-brewed") ANd BTW< you can get a six of Bud here in the States for $5.99 a six in the supermarket. Prolly even less in a local beer distributor. I'm *anxiously* waiting for the day that they come out with a "mini-keg" like Heineken (sp?) "Bud on Tap" in my fridge. Nirvana! errrr, "Heaven!"

PepsiCo also produces Tropicana, Quaker Oats, FritoLay Potato Chips, Gatorade and more. Check out the 'zero-calorie' symbol on these new bottles!

Good for you, HTR! Highly admirable. I hope the "disenfranchised-right-thinking-masses" follow our lead! ;)

“...I saw Nick Jr. was having a Bama Kid Fest with Pepsi commercials and on E, Hollywoods President. Of course followed by the commercial.”

QVC is even sending hosts to Wasington to “cover” the coronation on Tuesday. My husband made an interesting point: even people who like Zero are going to get tired of all Zero all the time.

Great point, libertarian27! And so our list of BOYCOTTED PepsiCo products grows! We should prolly also check the company's stock info & "strategic partners." This *thing* could really grow legs!

Thanks for the informative post.

I just drove by a building in downtown Cleveland that had two large banners of this hanging down the side of it. I took a picture of it with my iPhone. I'll try to post it later.
