Illinois requires all candidates to file a sworn statement of candidacy with their nominating petitions. The purpose of the statement is for the candidate to verify that he is qualified to hold the office that he seeks and has complied with all eligibility items (some officeholders need to hold licenses, for example, prosecutors and judges). False swearing subjects a candidate to possible prosecution for perjury.
I would not put it past Barack Obama to feel no compunction about filing a false statement. He omitted to mention his use of a prior name when applying to the Illinois bar (Barry Soetoro).

Honestly, I think after a good public hanging of traitors, we should hold another [special] election and have the winner of that complete #44’s term and then get back to the regular schedule.
