"“One of the reasons Detroit is in such difficulty is that consumers have been resisting the smaller, less powerful, less safe cars"

I've actually had some militant liberal types (yes, more than one) argue that I should not BE ALLOWED to drive my truck because my chance of surviving and (and them not) in an accident is high.

wow. next on the list to be banned. . . "being bigger and stronger"

You mean like playing sports and not keeping score?

I’ve heard the same arguments about how big trucks endanger others on the road. The problems I have with the smaller cars is that they seem to like to run next to my truck in my ‘blind spot’. They will snuggle up into that blind spot and run for miles oblivious to the fact that I can’t see them. I also really enjoy the times when I’m pulling a trailer and they wait until I’m very close and then pull out in front of me.

Precisely! If CA wants certain mandates met, let them suck it up or build their own vehicles. And the eeeevil oil companies should start refusing to make their special blends just for them. When residents actually start to feel the consequences of the decisions made by those they put in office, maybe they’ll come out of their stupor and stage a coup.

(Ah well, we can dream about it, right? lol)
