Fred - Newt - Steele, Gen. Chair, Chair, Exec. Director.

Sounds good, all great men and there is PLENTY of work to do and we need a good TEAM to reverse our fortunes.

I can’t think of a better choice for RNC chair than Fred.

I figure Fred as gen. chair would be the articulator and the face, Newt would be the ground-game guy as chair, Steele would run alot of interference as exec director.

Of course all three are articulate and can raise money so that’s a triple bonus score.

We need to get organized and recruit a team to run the RNC, we’re so far behind it’s not funny

I’d like to see him take some leadership position in the GOP.

I feel like his stand on small government, as well as his willingness to explore modern communication techniques would make a big difference in two and four years.

Oh, looks like a Huckabot.
Why would you jump to that erroneous conclusion? I've never supported Huckabee for anything. FredBots must be prone to jumping to conclusions because how else could they conclude that Fred Thompson should run for President or now be the leader of the RNC?

Perhaps because Huckabots were known for these kinds of comments. I have no problem with those supporting other candidates, but your type of comments were over the top and offensive and came across as pure hatred.

Fred wasn’t lackluster, he just got out too late
And whose fault was that?

I never said Fred's campaign wasn't perfect. He got out too late and I've communicated that with other FredHeads. He should have gotten out in May or June when the buzz was highest. But there was no sign of lackluster campaigning along the trail -- that was media spin plain and simple ...spun by people who didn't like the one true conservative in the race. Romney, Huckabee, McCain, etc...all had some credentials but not the consistency of Fred.

Fred was the only one in the field with anything substantive to offer.
I recall when the Fred Cult was trying to promote Fred's candidacy on FR they would make claims like that. But even though one of the Fred Cult members put together a long list of Fred's supposed qualifications, I never found that Fred had anything of substance to offer anyone.

Oh, please. Even the National Review which endorsed Romney said Fred had the best ideas and was the only candidate offering real substance along the way. He offered detailed, substantive proposals on several policy fronts but unfortunately it wasn't enough. But the fact you can't admit that he was offering substance is a sign of your closedmindedness. His campaign might not have been the best, but his ideas were.

But throwing him — perhaps one of our few true statesmen — under the bus with your hatred is unbecoming and offensive.
Well first, I know that Fred has played "statesmen" in the movies, but in real life he's never been anything close to a "statesmen".

Really? I guess you haven't followed his public career then -- in how he ushered through Justice Roberts or during his career as a Senator or in other public roles he has played. Again, your pure hatred is showing and it's sad.

And second, your throwing around the word "hatred" reminds me of what I found to be the FredBots' worst character flaw. Anytime anyone dared to challenge Fred's qualifications, the FredBots would get their panties in a knot and throw around words like "hate". I think that's one of the things that turned off a lot of Freepers to Fred's candidacy.

Perhaps we threw it around because it was true? No one has yet to refute it. In fact, in your post today, you are clearly the one getting your panties in a wad, refusing to even acknowledge the substance and leadership Fred has brought to our movement. there is a reason why Fred had so much grassroots internet support. Rather than dismissing that, it would probably benefit you to examine why that was the case, rather than resorting to your talking points.

Finally, IMO, in real life Fred has never demonstrated the kind of charisma, leadership, communication skills and understanding of conservative principles that the next RNC leader needs.

If you FredBots really want to promote Fred's candidacy for anything, you really have to get over the emotional reponses and stick to what you think are the facts that make Fred Thompson a qualified candidate.

I really wanted to like Fred as a candidate for the GOP nomination last year, but when I cut away the persona of the roles Fred played on TV and in the movies, I had to conclude that Fred may have been the least qualified of all the candidates for the nomination.

Seems like you are the one with the emotion. Least qualified? Please. Again, he was the ONLY candidate with any kind of record of speaking out for conservative principles over his entire career. He was the only one with the right combination of service and ideas. Sadly, his campaign didn't get off the ground and that I acknowledge. Fred has too, by the way.

I wasn't a fan of Huck and romney but I think they both offer something for the party. It's sad that you can't acknowledge the same for Fred as well.

There’s definitely got to be a place for the likes of FRed, Hunter, Jindahl, Palin, Pence, Cantor, Newt in power positions...The McCains, Spectors, Hagels, etc have got to go.

“His radio commentaries, articles, and conversations with the righty blogs before he began his presidential run were engaging and inspiring.”

It’s what we need to counter the ‘O’ clear conservative answers being presented in a forthright and thoughtful manner!

GO FRED!!!
