I’m angry that the fundamental structure of the financial system in America was regulated into oblivion. Congress is supposed to provide oversight. Instead, they created this problem by mandating that banks make loans to anyone with a pulse. I can live with a downturn in the stock market due to economic slowdown. This is different. Everyone knows that the basic structure is flawed. Where’s the reform? CRA should be eliminated. Fannie/Freddie should be privatized. Let banks be banks. Fix the problem, don’t just throw money at it.
And Obama, the community organizer, is going to be president because McCain won’t get in the gutter and fight. I suspect Obama’s work at ACORN directly contributed to this mess when they sued banks because of low CRA ratings to force them to make bad loans. Obama’s been campaigning for 20 months, but he has never explained what a community organizer is or what they do. Now I know that they get government funding to rob and kill banks.
So you’ve got Congress passing laws to force banks to make bad loans. You’ve got taxpayer money going to ‘non-profit’ (but not non-political) groups like ACORN and their laywers to enforce. You’ve got Congressmen receiving campaign contributions from Freddie/Fannie to keep the game going. This smells like a taxpayer shakedown and power grab originating from the highest levels of Govt. Or am I just paranoid?
For starters, McCain has always been a back stabber! We’re only getting what we bargained for.
We grow closer each day to seeing tanks roll up Pa. Avenue and the congressional clowns with their liberal judges friends running for the Canadian border.
I couldn’t believe my ears when McCain said in effect that Obama would make a good President. Elsewhere, McCain’s political ads mention that Obama is a liar and a risky choice. Just being collegial I guess.
Dennis Miller says that “McCain is going to etiquette himself right out the door.”
If it weren’t for Sarah Palin, I would despair.
I am still in dispair. I really dont want to see Palin have to push any of Mccain’s agenda. You know he will do it. Say another “citizenship” idea, the conservatives are not on board....he give Palin orders to sale it. don’t think it wont happen. But it would be a hoot if she says I quit!
Dole / Palin 2008!
McCain should hand the ticket to Governor Palin, and get out of the way.
That would be interesting. Why do I get the feeling that they wouldn’t fix it, that they would make it worse?
Start by giving away the houses to those that made bad decisions, while those of us who were responsible continue to pay our mortgage.
Then, Rezco, after being pardoned by obama, builds his slum housing for everyone else. (Picture soviet era apartment buildings).
They haven't seen "upset" yet - if Obambi succeeds in stealing this election, I predict some very angry, very agitated conservative people. They'll see a side of common folks that they hadn't seen before.
People don't respond well to being repeatedly stepped on.
So why the hell did they throw it in 2006? No, they're not "throwing" it - they are too inept to see the obvious.
This financial mess didn't "fall into his lap". It was orchestrated by the left.
I can’t imagine why john still believes that he can get a “fair shake”.
One doesn’t hear “the one” touting the positives of mccain.
If I could say one thing to john it would be:
Campaign to win, not to lose, darn it!
Well then somebody send him some viagra, or some 'roids. Get him fired up a bit.
