I disagree, in the strongest terms, not with the underlying premise but the with the way you posed the problem. And I think Newt Gingrich would disagree, also. But then Newt is always hopeful.

You have left out a major component purposely ignored by the commie alphabet media seeking as a fifth column enemy of the Republic over which the media wish to have Americans remain in the dark: we have the natural resources to develop our way out of this current crisis, with time, if the democrat controlled government would stop blocking the free development thereof. But the subunits of the socialist democrat cabal have the congressional power to block use of our natural resources because the democrats see that blockage as a means to bring the nation to its collective knees.

The crisis is a manufactured one which depended upon a small number of very greedy people to cooperate in putting our financial industry at the brink of disaster. Coupled with the blockage of resource development, the perfect collapse has been engineered due to household credit orgies encouraged by media and financiers.

There is a way to work our way out of this crisis, but in taking that route we must also end the playing field upon which the Republic has been pissed on and pissed away by the democrat party trying to bring about the socialist nation of their demented, twisted, degenerate dreams ... and the only way to make it happen is to fire the democrats and Republicans in Congress (both House and Senate) who have aided and abetted this leap toward socialism by fiat.

Corrupt Senators like Ted Stevens must be dealt with, lying, socialist, degenerately corrupt congressmen like Barney Franks must be rejected at the ballot box.

Now, do you see that happening, at this stage in the game when the very constituents of Barney Frank's district are thoroughly steeped in socialist beliefs, blind to the destruction mister Franks has been working feverishly to accomplish?

I don't, and that's the horror of it all: the democrat party has not only revealed what they are by posting this community activist Marxist named Obama as their brightest and best candidate to be president, they have so dumbed down the electorate that their congressional seats are beyond reached to end the commie stranglehold on this nation.

And the fifth column media--posing as a fourth estate--is aiding and abetting the demise of the Republic every chance they can manufacture ... for proof, take a look at the CBS Bob Schieffer 'propaganda hour' with Barack Obama unchallenged in his lies and manipulations this Sunday. The man lied repeatedly and received from Bob Schieffer smiles and quiet reverence, as CBS had their puppet working carefully from the script, no doubt provided to them by the Obama/Axelrod machine. Notice the carefully coordinated CNN propaganda immediately following the debate on Friday night and the subsequent fabrications of a twisted fantasy reality running there all weekend! The media operate off of the DNC talking points. Need we be reminded of the 'gravitas' example when Cheney was chosen for VP running mate? It hasn't gotten less entrenched, it's gotten more stealthy and more pervasive!

CBS made the most expensive campaign video a candidate could ever hope to receive, and Obama's Marxist soldiers didn't have to pay a penny for it! CBS gave it to their little god, poseur for president, Barack Hussein Obama, marxist activist extraordinaire.

We The People were supposed to be the sovereigns of this Republic. By careful graft, lies, and media manipulation, coupled with the steady decades long destruction of the educational system, training children to be feelers not thinkers, watchers not doers, sycophants not scientists, followers not leaders, consumers not inventors ... by these means the commies have placed us on the brink of final demise. They laid out this strategy more than forty years ago, openly, in an open forum Communist Party congress in the Soviet Union. The union may be gone from the books, but Putin is proving the power of that insidious enemy is not gone.

We the people are no longer the sovereigns because we have abdicated our responsibility to monitor and remove wrongheaded congressional critters like Stevens, Dodd, Schumer, Waters, Watts, and Frank, in favor of orying on the bread and circuses the credit/media masters have made US dependent upon and lusting for.

When the great depression hit, the majority of Americans did not live in big cities and the connected urban centers. As a result, most families survived without anarchy and rioting because they could grow what they needed to survive. Now, hah! The population developed to be dependent is totally at the mercy of supply, and supply is controlled by the very bastards who have worked so feverishly to bring about massing of dependencies.

The democrat party has been working for decades (since the Johnson Great Society) to create a nation of dependents upon the federal government, run by the democrat party, and empowered through obscenities ... like democrat protection and promotion of slaughtering the alive unborn. But the direction of the democrat obsession to be in complete control of a socialist state went from being nearly benign to being pernicious during the clinton years.

The chaos which is coming will not last years. It will take only a few weeks of riots and mayhem, starvation and murder. It will eliminate tens of thousands of vicitims and useless dependents, and create a populace begging to have government establish peace and stop the murderous bands of hungry dependents raiding the homes and businesses of people who went along to get along, abdicating their sovereign responsibilities along the way.

Political correctness has been the hammer, but weakness of and systematic corrosion for the sovereign will has been the means to end the sovereignty of the American people. The pervasiveness of pornography under the guise of freedom of speech is a galring example.

Seven years ago, I had a conversation with a shrewed businessman regarding the nature of financial peril the nation faced. He was certain the debt our government had amassed by then was the straw about to break the back of the Republic, because we could not keep transferring increasing national debt to our grandchildren. I took a moment to compose a response, which in essence referred him to the transfer of debt the government had arranged for the individual families to carry, and that it was that mass of living on credit which would ultimately destroy the Free Republic.

Well, I'm not an economist, so it appears I was only partially right: the personal credit orgy has led to a financial institutions meltdown, but the democrat socialist party has been the orchestrator of the crash we see happening in slow motion now. And they forced the greedy CEOs to exploit the financial system for obscene personal profits, generating massive peril to the sound fundamentals of capitalization ... the Republic cannot sustain itself on credit. But it will accelerate tomorrow.

The very fact that the democrats ARE trying to incorporate more than 100 billion of taxpayer funding for the Marxist entity ACORN in the current bailout doesn't seem to register on the minds of dumbed-down use-to-be sovereigns of a once great Republic.

May God have mercy upon US and make the end swift if it has arrived. Buy ammo, now, while you can still get it to defend hearth and home. Mayhem is the satanic godchild of the demcorat party ... as a nation, we should have learned that with the Watts riots, but we didn't. And look how far Californian's have been eager to leap into debt and communism just to avoid another Watts shakedown!

Are We at an Inflection Point?

When Michael Barone speaks, I for one listen. This time I think I've been listening to one of the scariest prophecies about this election and the state of our political affairs that I have heard for a long time, made all the more dreadful because of the source. Here is the election in a nutshell:

Barack Obama and other Democrats have used the financial crisis to spin a narrative. The problem, they say, is deregulation and greed. This is not strictly speaking accurate. Obama and the Democrats opposed tighter regulation of the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and John McCain supported it. Unregulated firms like hedge funds have done well, while heavily regulated banks have had troubles.

But the narrative will be advanced by the Obama-loving media ... and by the passage of a giant financial bailout -- er, rescue package. The likelihood, as this is written, is that Obama will be elected president and the Democrats will expand their congressional majorities. Possibly even to the 60 votes they need to effectively control the Senate.

So Barone believes as I do that Obama is likely to win the election. What is truly scary follows, " start old the Democrats will expand their congressional majorities possibly even to the 60 votes they need to effectively control the Senate."

This means there is nothing to stop a "Manchurian Marxist" from taking over almost total control of the American economy. If this scenario obtains, Republicans will not even have resort to the filibuster to defend the Republic. Because there will be no check or balance, Obama's socialist policies, as they fail, will be compounded with more socialist policies to rescue the failures.

Worse, Obama has displayed a frightening tendency to enlist the power of the state to squelch free speech. His gang of Democrats in the House and Senate share his views and have already threatened talk radio. Obama has invoked the threat of prosecution against radio stations and in general, evidently, in the state of Missouri even against private citizens. The Kerry campaign intimidated television stations running the Swift boat film. Conservatives have every reason to fear that the country may enter a new dark age under a Putin like administration.

Nor can we sleep well expecting the courts to come to our rescue. There's not the slightest realistic hope that any federal court will declare the bailout unconstitutional as an impermissible usurpation of powers. We have already seen the court waffle on matters such as campaign finance reform so, we are entitled to nourish but little hope that free speech, if not the free market, will be protected.

Across the board of American life there is virtually no institution apart from government which could stand up against the power of an engrossed state. Our educational institution is corrupted from top to bottom with leftists. The higher the learning and the more prestigious the institution the greater the departure from common sense. Our great charitable institutions such as Ford or Rockefeller have been thoroughly infiltrated and are now controlled by leftists. Witness Bill Ayers and Barack Obama's plundering of the Annenberg foundation, originally founded by a conservative. It is now so commonly understood that the media is so given over to leftism that it requires no comment or proof here. Apart from a remnant of the Roman Catholic Church and the Evangelicals, the American Christian Church is best exemplified by the United Church of Christ which is practically a leftist front. The executive branch bureaucracy, not excluding the CIA and especially the State Department, are largely given over to undermining conservative principles and policies which are the expressions of our democratically elected leaders.

Take away talk radio, and the void leaves the playing field to the leftists virtually unopposed.

This is the specter that awaits us the day after the election.

These are the nightmares which prompt some of us on these threads to become testy at times when we see posts which are nothing but cheerleading and boosterism. These are the times which call every one of us to dig deep and face courageously the realities that confront us. I am not in the slightest deterred by replies to this post which recite that I am a defeatist. It may be true that I am an alarmist but I believe we have much to be alarmed about. Small wonder that we could become testy when we see a campaign slipping away or an opportunity missed. The stakes are really and truly high this time. It is my hope that Freepers, knowing that the barbarians are really at the gate, will turn their collective genius toward averting a catastrophe

At the end of the day we see the thefts of property through thuggery. A good Marxist like Saul Alinsky-or Mao Tse Tung for that matter- are never above easing the travail of their own lives with such perks, but their ideological goal is the distruction of the concept and sanctity of property. There is a reason for that ideological goal.

The basic institutions of Western society which come out of the Judeo- Christian tradition and which were hammered out in our culture over the millennia and refined in the Enlightenment and in the American experience have served as bulwarks against the advance of communism. Foremost among the institutions which stand against the advance communism are the family, the church, the rule of law, the school, private property, and the military with its commitment to patriotism.

Saul Alinsky in his book, Rules for Radicals lays out a guerrilla against these institutions which frustrate socialism. Barak Obama was an acolyte of -indeed he was an instructor for- Saul Alinsky's operation.

To complete the picture, someday a conservative historian (presuming they are allowed to publish) will draw a straight line to Barak Obama which passes through Saul Alinsky, showing feeder lines off to people like Bill Ayers, and originating in The Frankfurt School. The Frankfurt School was expressly founded by a George Soros like figure in 1923 in Germany for the express purpose of providing the intellectual methodology to destroy the institutions which protect Western civilization. These intellectuals did provide rationalizations which today motivate the Barak Obama's of the world. The rationalizations are called: feminism; critical theory; conservationism; world order; political correctness; economic democracy, etc. and they all find their origin in The Frankfurt School.

When I say the barbarians are at the gate, I do not mean to diminish the sophistication of the enemy. We must make no mistake, we are dealing with an extremely crafty and dedicated foe whose ultimate aim is and remains despite the fall of the Soviet Union to break through the gates. Indeed, "barbarians at the gate" and "breaking through the gate" are the wrong kinds of imagery. The war is not being fought at this point with violence. It has been fought and mostly won by the other side by infiltration into the institutions which I mentioned in my previous post including the churches, the charitable foundations, the education establishment, the bar, and, as you point out, the unions.

If these people get their hands on the levers of power in America they will not let go.

The article is correct, but there’s one huge problem. Big Media has shut the door tight on any knowledge of Obama’s past and Dem complicity in this financial crisis. It’s up to McCain and the 527’s to get the info out. So far McCain’s ads have been derelict. I haven’t seen one 527 ad yet that has attacked Obama and the Dem party on the FM scandal. If they don’t, McCain is toast in November. The majority of Americans believe this crisis was caused by greedy capitalists and Republican complicity. If McCain doesn’t change that perception, he’ll lose.

Time to stand up. Resist Obama, and resist Marxism.
