nd gridlock would result if Congress refused to go along with such an executive branch power grab.you say that like it's a bad thing...
Actually, with enough pork, they should be able to override the veto. Win-win for them. Lose for us.

What power grab? The Constitution allows for a Presidential Veto. Just as it allows the Congress to go back and pass the bill over the veto.
If there were a gridlock ... would it be any different that we've already experienced in Congress?

They apparently didn’t parse McCain’s statement carefully enough. He’s not going to veto ALL bills will any earmarks whatsoever.
He’s only going to veto bills with EXPENSIVE earmarks. So, I parse that to mean, his people will fine-tooth comb each bill to determine if there are any wasteful, high-price-tag earmarks, and zot those bills.
