Why in particular do working class and rural Americans usually vote for pro-business Republicans when their economic interests would seem better served by Democratic policies? Things are seldom what they seem to lefty academics, pal.

Apparently ADD, because I could never muster the apparent amazing mental discipline and attention span to read past the first sentence.

Why in particular do working class and rural Americans usually vote for pro-business Republicans when their economic interests would seem better served by Democratic policies? Because we need jobs so we can buy food. I know that is something Democrats wouldn't know anything about.

JONATHAN HAIDT is Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Virginia, where he does research on morality and emotion and how they vary across cultures. This is who Florence King must have had in mind when she wrote that "College teaching tends to attract the kind of people who are incapable of making a living with either their minds or their hands."

It’s a bunch of hooey. A liberal has to write a *thesis* to explain and rationalize why people vote Republican , as if it’s not something a normal person would do ?? Most Republicans would tell you in a single sentence. He is right about one thing though.. these self styled intellectuals and academics which includes the author himself, just don’t get it.

Ahh - they failed with their most basic assumption. The average American’s basic interests are NOT with the Democrats.

Having comon sense and basic faith in the goodness of my Country and its Citizens. Understanding that we make mistakes but AMERICA is EXCEPTIONAL and UNIQUE in our freedoms. The free market when not interfered with by Government works. Liberals come up with all these super crazy save the world ideas but don’t have the guts to invest their money start a buisness and make a go in the Freemarket. They not only would lose every dime of their money.. but their ideas would be laughed at. Example schools they have had failing ideas on Schools for as long as I can remember solution More Tax Money. You wouldn’t put your money in a failing buisness or put money in stock that was plummeting. I want to see what I get for my money. Nothing just more crazy ideas and pleas for money. It should stop. Like the free market only the Stong survive. Some programs and handouts need to stop.

An associate isn’t very high up on the academic food chain. Maybe he hopes this article will help him get tenure.

Americans vote for Republicans primarily because they have been duped into doing so.
BwaaaaHahahahahahahah. Beautiful. The electorate are a bunch of dupes. The left’s only draw is to dupe the electorate. Since they have been unsuccessful, conservatives must be the success story in that regard. It’s their only explanation.

"Why in particular do working class and rural Americans usually vote for pro-business Republicans when their economic interests would seem better served by Democratic policies?" Because we tried getting jobs off of poor people and they looked confused and told us to go to the Welfare office instead.
