I’m glad she stresses that for the oil companies, the environmental issues are huge. The libs think the companies just barge in willy-nilly and destroy everything in their paths.
In ‘91 I manned the Anchorage base office supporting an oil company’s exploration fleet in the Chuchki Sea. The sole duty of one person in the fleet was to monitor the wildlife continually — counting seals, etc. — and then sending the info to the base. Then I had to fax the reports to a government oversight office — in D.C., if I remember correctly. It wasn’t taken lightly in any way, and to miss making the daily environmental reports would have been a job ender for me.
A majority of people move to Alaska because of nature and the unspoiled environment. They have an interest in keeping things unspoiled. They also are in favor of drilling in ANWR and elsewhere in AK. The people who live there understand the big picture; the libs are clueless.
That’s what Palin stressed, that the people who live in Alaska care greatly for their environment, clean air and water and wildlife and do not want to see it destroyed. She said the actual area of ANWR to be explored was very small. I think she is great.
You’ve got a great tag!
Thanks, I didn’t make it up. I read it somewhere, and thought is was very true!
