You would be most welcome here dear in a soft bucolic upscale Metro Nashville environ where your biggest hassle would be Gen X yuppies wanting your assurance that little Johnny is as bright and wonderful as his two income over achieving parents think they are.

There’s a difference between starting pay for a job in an area and average pay for a job in a larger area. Starting pay in most professions is crap, that because the people that get those jobs are straight out of school, have no experience, and no one knows if they’ll be any good at it. There are very few professions where starting pay is above the poverty line, so it’s no surprise, no bad statement about America, that starting teachers don’t make much money. And it has no real effect on the overall average pay, which is what the article talked about.

Of course if your aim is calories/$ then you’re already looking to buy unhealthy food.

Aim for nutrition/$. Heck even on mass/$ healthy food tends to win.

Oh and bologna is actually healthier than fish. Not by much, but fish has tons of fat.

The stated overall average pay for teachers is as erroneous as the statement that they only work 9 months per year. It’ is that simple, the numbers quoted are totally and completely wrong. You can tilt any statistic if you take the right samples and that is what has been done here.

Before they get that full time job most of them pay their dues by working as a substitute teacher on call and part time.

Depends on the subject matter taught. Science and Math are in demand.
