Thank you for taking the time to offer me guidance regarding this great site. I am a newbie, I’ll own that. But I’m not a troll and I was quite honored that you published my first post, to be quite honest with you. I write constantly and I could have a post an hour if I wanted to but I’m certainly not going to be an annoyance amongst people of quality. I’d do it in a heartbeat to a jerk...but you guys seem quite nice so I’ll return the effort. I’ll be here as long as you’ll have me.
:)
> Don’t patronize me newbie.

> People such as *yourself* never fail to amuse me with your faux ‘who? little ol’ me? pimpin’ mah blog?’ feigned innocence. My first response to you was a factual observation that you were five days old here on FR, and pimping your blog. That’s all. You can thank your defender carton253 for stirring the pot, and I responded to him as I deemed appropriate.
If I had to guess, mate, she wasn’t patronizing you at all. She was being sarcastic.
(rather good sarcasm it was, too — worked a charm, and you ran into it face-first.)
I’d give it an 8/10, and score it a direct hit to the midships.
Don’t you have a Guardian Angel function to attend?
> Don’t you have a Guardian Angel function to attend?
Yes, there is the 2008 Annual Gala in NYC tomorrow nite (your time) June 3. Well spotted!
I wish I could go, it’s usually a really good event. But it is close to halfway ‘round the world from here at an expensive time of year for airfare.
We had Curtis out here in NZ last August, even got some decent TV time. I’m hoping to get to the next Conference, wherever it is.
What part of the US are you in?
It's easy -- nobody "worships" him.
Baltimore Maryland is home for me. You have a fine chapter in a very dangerous city, in some ways worse than New York or Philadelphia.
I interviewed some of your Tampa Florida chapter members back in August 1990 when they came up to Gainesville during the Danny Rolling murder spree (I was working as a news director at a local FM station at the time), they were fine people.
I keep up (somewhat) with what the Angels are up to, Curtis Sliwa has been a busy man lately, he got a new chapter up and running in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada, didn’t get much of a welcome from the local law enforcement, but the public up there has been enthusiastic from what I’ve heard.
Quite frankly, I would not have imagined there would be a severe need for a GA chapter in New Zealand, your country doesn’t seem to fit the image of having a ‘crime problem’ at least not on a scale of a major metropolitan crime cesspool.
So which one of those fine people in your profile page picture is you?
(grin!) I’m the fat ugly brute in the back row, right-hand side.
The Baltimore Chapter leader is a good mate of mine. It is indeed a very dangerous part of the US: I agree with your assessment re: NYC and Philly. New Orleans is probably the most dangerous Patrol in the US, IMO, and Capetown SA would be our most dangerous Patrol worldwide.
I hail originally from Vancouver Canada, but have been a Kiwi now for nearly half my life.
New Zealand is an interesting place, crimewise. We have the highest per-capita consumption of P-Methamphetamine in the world, and most of it is manufactured in West Auckland, where I live. I became a Guardian Angel on the day that the cops busted a huge P-Lab across the street from the school where my wife teaches: had it blown up it would have taken out the entire block including the school.
Our child-abuse stats are amongst the worst in the OECD. And our violent crime rates and incarceration rates are right up there with the US.
In many ways, ours is a very violent society. We have an image of being a quiet, peaceful place — and in many ways New Zealand definitely is that. But there is a violent undercurrent that surprises many people. And it is a relatively new phenomenon, I’d say within the past 20 years.
The gangs here are interesting: American hip-hop gangsta culture has caught on in a big way, and you can find kids in South Auckland with very credible “American” accents — except of course that they are Maori or Pacific Islanders. Most of the serious organized crime is done by older gang members, from the mid-20’s thru 50’s. They resemble American motorcycle gangs in many ways, but with a distinct tribal flavor. No surprises there, this is the South Pacific after all.
From time-to-time I write a Vanity about our Guardian Angels exploits here in NZ: not enough of them to do a proper blog else I’d post them there instead. I’ve placed some links to them on my ABOUT Page.
Cheers from DownUnder

“fat ugly brute”
Oh, I have a thing for fat ugly brutes. I like them tall, no rolly polly fat ugly brutes. The more brutish, the better.
I was born in Jersey, raised in the Chicago Suburbs, ran off to Frisco as a teenager, back to Chi-town and then to Virginia, New York and Georgia...in that order.
I bore easily.
You guys are great. You would not BELIEVE the cretins I’ve been dealing with lately. Trolls from hell. If they follow me here, I trust you guys can handle them. I guess it comes with the political territory.
Currently they’re annoyed that I mentioned them on my blog.
Say la V.............LOLOLOL :)
> Trolls from hell. I trust you guys can handle them. I guess it comes with the political territory.
We like Trolls — Stir-fried. We don’t encourage them to dine with us, naturally, but if they should join our table uninvited, then as Guests of Honor they are going to be our appetizer.
We wash them down with a nice crisp Chianti or ice-cold Root Beer, and then move on to the Main Course or Entree, which is of course the Liberals.
For Dessert we select from the French, or the Poms, or the Evangelizing Rock Star or Hollywood Personality of your choice, whom we devour with gusto, leaving behind no bones or scraps or even a trace of sauce.
We then raise a toast of rum or port or strong coffee to the good ol’ FRee Republic and to Jim Robinson in particular, then agree to a dinner meeting same time tomorrow.
That’s how it is done on the FRee Republic.
Well I like this place and I can’t wait to break bread with you all as you serve up the roast troll.
As you said, I never encourage them, they just keep on keepin’ on. They’ve been chasing me for over 3 years. It’s so nice to be chosen for a team. I hate dealing with these yahoos alone, it makes them feel superior in numbers and therefore a bit stronger, although sadly, still morons.
:)
> That is stunning. What do you attribute that to?
It is really difficult to tell. My own pet theory is in line with the “Warrior Gene” discussion that the GGG Threads have, from time-to-time, explored.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Maori and Pacific Islanders possess this gene. I have seen it amongst The Lads that I have led as a Guardian Angel. Most people need to psyche themselves up into doing anything dangerous. Not so with the Maori and Samoans: they almost relax into it, like it is a default setting, a comfortable place for them to exist in. Their courage is extraordinary, as is their combat prowess. Utterly fearless.
There is no doubt that they excel at rough, physical games such as Rugby and especially Rugby League: which is as close to warfare as you will get in Sport, whilst still having rules and a requirement that nobody die on the field.
So if we start out with Civilizations on islands in the South Pacific, each with strong Warrior cultures and genetically programmed that way, then introduce Socialism and Liberalism — whereby these natural talents are no longer valued or respected or even used — what do you end up with?
Bored soldiers. Probably the most dangerous thing in the world is a bored soldier: he will find mischief to get up to, and he will be very good at it.
As to why these “bored soldier” cultures have adopted American hip-hop is anyman’s guess. Their own cultures are far more interesting. They were, after all, Cannibals barely 150 years ago.
> I have always believed there to be a direct correlation between the purging of God from the U.S. classroom in the early 60’s and the violence, illicit behavior and ‘situational ethics’ garbage that rushed in to fill the vacuum.
There is alot to be said for that.
Interestingly, the Samoans and Tongans in particular embraced Christianity about 150 years ago with a very strong fervor. It is not uncommon for them to triple-tithe to their churches, or to take out bank loans so that they will have something to put into the collection plate on Sunday. Extremely devout. And even so, it is not uncommon for these same people to get into trouble with the law.
> That’s fascinating stuff about what might be called ‘cultural pollution’ resulting in your local gangsta-wannabe crowd, I think that is evidence of how much (not all but a lot) that genre of music can influence society.
I agree. And if it were left up to me, it would be contraband, just like kiddie porn and snuff films. Nothing good can come out of music that encourages young people to commit crimes and hate authority.
It was one of the first things that Curtis remarked upon when he came to visit us: how can we have so-called “youth events” when you have hip-hop performers at these events rapping on street crime and immorality and the drug scene? It makes no sense.
> It’s past 2:00 am Eastern, time to call it a night!
Check ya, mate
