I never claimed to be a mod, but I'm not the one on the thread telling a new freeper what they can and cannot post. So, I'll say it again. Leave meggers alone. She is a welcome addition to Free Republic. Your comments notwithstanding.
Do you have original-source-material citations for some of those quotes? I’d like to wake some people up about what these people are really about, but they tend to disbelieve anything that isn’t an original source. Given the number of bogus quotations floating around, I can’t really blame them.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give that rant about a 6.5. I know you can do much better than that.
And word_warrior_bob?
Same goes for you. You and carton253 need to take a deep breath and calm your asses down. You’re obviously suffering from a combined case of premature exasperation.
___
Project much?
All I did was post my favorite Chris Crocker trance re-mix from youtube to lighten the mood a little.
Please calm down.
Please don’t explain yourself sir. Your comment was an inherently kind and positive statement, as any fool can plainly see.
People such as yourself make me feel overwhelmed with your kindness. Rarely does one come across such an upright person as yourself who would never, under any circumstances, stoop to playing word games.
Do keep in touch.

All you have to do is google the first sentence of the quotes, they’re all over.
I’ll handle this:

If I knew how to embed it in the comment, I would.
Certainly not me, you seem to be confused. In a bad mood today?
I’m in a great mood. Never better Bob, thanks for asking.
Good, then please don’t release any more of your misdirected rage at me, thanks : )
“He’ll be lucky to beat McGovern’s numbers”
We’d all love to think so. However, mega-Libs Al Gore & John Kerry came perilously close to becoming preident in the last two elections. The electorate of this country has changed *drastically* since the McGovern days. And if B Hussein O doe lose, it’s gonna make us all sick as to how close he actually came. Mark my words.

You know, I really do think he will be easy to beat...and by McGovern numbers. That’s because of people who like McCain and those who DON’T like Obama. I seriously think that he’ll have a huge problem with the BLT.
Oh, and thanks for the welcome sir...glad to meetcha.
:):):)
> Thanks for the welcome and Mea Culpa on the “pimping” I just found this place and wasn’t aware of the etiquette. I shan’t make that mistake again. I wouldn’t have done it in the first place if the word “excerpt” wasn’t there.
Don’t get too freaked out over that: he was just being cautious about “trolls” — and rightly so.
As you saw, others on the thread came to your defense, so there wouldn’t have been anything much wrong with the subject matter or the way in which you presented it.
The FRee Republic is a cut-and-thrust place of informed vigorous debate on matters of Conservative interest. As such, the threads get rather vigorous, as you have seen.
I’ll invest a moment or two, if that’s OK, to help you find your way around. This may save you time and help you to observe the norms quickly.
It is helpful to take a moment or two to read this statement from the founder of the FRee Republic, Jim Robinson, as it sets the tone beautifully: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1103363/posts
Of course it is OK to post from your blog: there is an entire forum for Bloggers & Personal, here: http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/bloggers-forum/index
Just remember that it needs to be of high quality, and respect the fact that this is a user-funded forum (you’ll learn about FReep-a-thons in due course) and bandwidth is always a concern.
The best guidance I can give you is that whenever you post, remember that it is going to a Conservative forum of discerning, educated and articulate people. The subject matter should be well-written with good grammar, spelling, and capitalization, should be of some interest to Conservatives, use good manners, use proper attribution, observe and follow copyright, and be a constructive (rather than disruptive) influence.
Naturally, “Conservatism” is a wonderfully broad spectrum that encapsulates much, but always “firmly on the side of right, that is the conservative side”, as Mr Robinson says. So you will find a broad spectrum of Conservative opinion and subject matter here.
Take the time to lurk on a few threads to learn the prevalent norms and subject matters.
If you give an opinion on something, be prepared to defend your opinion, and always give as good as you get — within the confines of good manners and the Posting Guidelines, which you will find here: http://www.freerepublic.com/help.htm#guidelines
HTML is your FRiend, and it works just fine on the FRee Republic. If you aren’t familiar with HTML, it might pay to check out some of the guidance on it. StarCMC has assembled an excellent collection of threads on basic HTML, which you will find on her ABOUT page (toward the bottom) here: http://www.freerepublic.com/~starcmc/
The FReeper Canteen is a great thread (the longest continuous thread, I believe, on the FRee Republic), dedicated to honoring our Troops and those who have Served. It is a great place to get to know people, and there is always something light and interesting happening there. (It’s not the place for vigorous debate, but more for socializing). You can find the latest part of that thread here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2024549/posts
For the most part, the FRee Republic is a self-policing place: there are Moderators and their word is Law. But the membership itself is quite careful to guard against misuse of this wonderful resource. Naturally, the FRee Republic is a choice target for “trolls”, who tend to sign up an account, post a load of rubbish shortly thereafter, cause mayhem, then disappear. When a Troll Hunt is on, you’ll hear about words like “Zot” and learn what that’s all about.
Finally, I hope your sojourn here is long and enjoyable.
