So those smart people at MS are getting paid the same amount as those dumb people that wrote Linux. At least Judas got 30 pieces of silver for his betrayal.

What betrayal are you talking about? You seem to want to negatively compare an American company to foreign theives, which is obviously absurd, but typical for Linux supporters.

What betrayal are you talking about?

Oh, I dunno. I'll try not using multisyllabic words this time:

Micro-soft gave their win-dows source code to the chinese.

As Micro-soft must have know they would do, the chinese gave or leaked the code to their com-pan-ies.

Micro-soft will not give the same code to Am-er-i-can com-pan-ies.

There-fore Micro-soft aid-ed China, but will not aid Am-er-i-can com-pan-ies.

They have be-trayed their coun-try.

And now they are shocked SHOCKED that they are not get-ting their silver.

Oh, and once again, I am not a "Linux supporter" indeed, I have never even used Linux.

I just think an American company should help America, not her sworn enemies.

Think that last through. Microsoft is sacrificing its most precious crown jewels on the alter of chinese business, giving them a significant MILITARY and commercial edge over America. They gave the PLA the ability to exploit flaws in the OS on a level never before seen. You do know that a lot of our military runs on Windows, don't you? Guess what? So does the People's Liberation Army.

Let me rephrase that:

Microsoft gave China its most critical secrets.
Microsoft will not give Americans shit.

Microsoft handed our sworn enemies the keys to turn off any piece of our military equipment any time that suits them.

Microsoft has given the PLA the certainty that they can blunt any American response to Chinese aggression.

The nicest thing I could call that is a betrayal of America. Treason would not be too strong a word.

What do you call it? Good business practice?

Not even that, they aren't getting paid for the screwing they're getting.

Micro-soft gave their win-dows source code to the chinese.

So you actually believe in closed source? Of course not, it's your circular argument again. That Microsoft is evil for giving their source code away, but the only answer is for them to further open source it! Ya right! If you were really bothered about free software for China, you'd agree they shouldn't be able to legally rename and resell Red Hat as "Red Flag". You'd actually believe in "closed source", no free software for China, period. So do you actually belive that, or do you REALLY believe in "open" and "free software" for China? No more out of both sides of your mouth.

You can’t possibly be that dense.

Linux is open everywhere.

That is a level playing field.

Windows is open to the communist chinese and closed to Americans.

That is not a level playing field.

Microsoft has declared fealty to china, not America.

If Widows was closed to all, I would have little problem with that.

If Windows was open to all, I’d have no problem with that.

But to open it wide to our enemies, and slam it shut in our friends faces? You actually support that?

Are you an American first, or a Windows drone first?

Where exactly do your true loyalties lie? Hmmmmmm?

I’ve started telling the managers at the stores I shop in that I’m checking labels and not purchasing goods or foods made in China. They usually look at me as though I’ve gone off the deep end. I smile.

Yep, just as I said, you actually believe in open source, and clearly don't care how much the Chinese get for free, quote "open to all" is what you've admitted you want.

Meanwhile I believe in closed source, and that the Chinese shouldn't get ANY source code from us, period. You're the sellout, not me, I say NO to free software for China, from anyone. You say "open to all". Quote.

Yet that belief doesn't stop you from a snarling defense of Microsoft for giving china its source code, while defending them for not giving the exact same code to American companies, does it?

You true loyalty is showing.

And it ain't to America or things American.

Were I you, I'd be to uncomfortable on a forum dedicated to American patriots to ever post anything there.

Why exactly are you here again?

I’ve never defending free source code for China, from anyone, including Microsoft. I have a long standing position of supporting closed source software, prior to Microsoft’s “shared source” program, which is their response to open source I do not support either.

You on the other hand do support free software for China, “open to all” was your quote. Jump up and down and call me the sellout all you want, but unlike you I don’t believe in giving them anything for free. Closed source, not open to China. Not “open to all” like you want.

So why should China get free software? Level the playing field by not giving them anything. That's what I support. No Soup For You! But you want to "level the playing field" so they get everything free instead LOL.

Technically true. All you did was defend Microsoft's giving free source code to china exclusively.

I support a level playing field. Americans are sufficiently creative, sufficiently industrious, and sufficiently good enough to prevail in any fair contest.

You shamelessly shill for Microsoft, no matter what they do.

I don’t support free software from China, especially not from Microsoft. If it wasn’t for Linux, they wouldn’t have gotten it either. You can talk in circles all you want, call names, sling insults, but you’re the one that supports that kind of stuff. I want it all encrypted and locked down from the Chicoms, closed source. “Open to all” is what you’ve admitted you want. Pinged me over to this thread just to tell me again I guess LOL.

Yes, why don't you want a wall around China, instead of them getting free open source software? I say closed source, build the wall around China, why do you disagree when it comes to software? Why don't you complain that the Chinese get to rename and resell Red Hat Linux from the US as "Red Flag Linux" over there, without a dime back to Red Hat. Shouldn't there be a software |WALL| around China too? That's what I support. Yet you say "open to all" is what you want instead.

So why should China get free software?

Why should it be closed to only them?

I suppose that's consistent though, you've already defended Microsoft for opening Windows only to them, haven't you?

Also, the chinese are not stupid. Like programers everywhere they can and will improve the product. A rising tide raises all boats.

Besides, this way they are disinclined to develop their own closed architecture...

I've never defended the Chinese getting anything free, which is why I oppose free and open source software for the Chicoms, which you support despite your attempts to tar me the traitor. Funny how that turned out LOL.

Wow. You certainly view the world through a far different prism than I.

The point of the tagline is that communism produces few poor choices, while a free market produces abundant good choices.

As to the wall? WE didn’t wall off East Berlin and half of Germany to exclude them, THEY walled off themselves to keep their citizens from freedom. East Germany (and its communist government) would have collapsed far sooner without the wall.

I want commie China to collapse. Why would I build a wall to keep them together?

(Besides, in a world without walls, who needs windows?)

Historical note: Once upon a time China did build a wall, they built a Great Wall, that empire still collapsed, as will their current attempt at hegemony.

True. You do seem more upset that there are companies in your beloved PRC that aren't paying Microsoft its silver, than you are at the fact that Microsoft gave its source code to the PLA Chinese government in the first place.

Do you think treason is only worthwhile if one can actually get paid for it?

I believe in cutting off China from our technology, not giving it to them for free like you. Just like we cut off the USSR. And IF they get it at all, they should have to pay through the nose. Your answer to that is “open to all” and “a rising tide raises all boats” or some other one world nonsense, just keep giving it to them for free. You’re the sellout, since you raised the allegation earlier.

Cutting off China from all of our technology would be challenging, especially since they manufacture so much of it.

The least we can do is not give them a competitive edge by making sure they are not the ONLY ONES with access to core technologies.

You’re still slinging the bull that MS is acting fairly by giving China, Inc. full access to its source code, and not giving the same access to American companies.
