The Devil or the Deep Blue Sea, right? The perfect is the enemy of the good, but goddam, what passes for "good" nowadays could use a little polish and maybe some integrity...or something...so I had my debate and made my decision and cast my vote in that booth, and what I realized after inking the box was this: I'll take either one, and will throw down for either one after the balloon party and the bullshit, so we can put on our steel-toed boots and helmet and mouth-guard and Holy Water cologne and whatever else might get us from Now to Later in one piece, so we can use those boots to kick Ol' Johnny-Boy up one side of Main Street and down the other, because keeping guys like that out is more important than letting our favored cretins in, just a little bit, but enough. That's just about the most words I've ever seen strung together in one place without forming a coherent though. And I have a house full of teenagers.

I was born into this Age Of Bedlam,... I didn't have a say, but I'm tasked to sweep up all the bones and busted glass left behind, and all I have is the idea that is America and the Constitution and the rule of law....
How can anyone read this and not either laugh or puke? It's bad enough that these DUmmies are so unfamiliar with decent writing that they are impressed with tedious verbosity, rhetorical diarrhea, and clichéd literary devices. It's even worse that they praise and enable such comically over-the-top arrogance. "I'm tasked to sweep up all the bones and busted glass left behind". He couldn't even say, "We are tasked"? The whole piece boils down to Pitt announcing that he's going to cravenly sit on the fence until after the primaries so as to not offend anyone in either camp and lose even more of his former popularity. Somehow, he made it into a 2000+ word essay extolling his keyboard heroism and the sacred task of restoring the nation that he alone is charged.... Even if you agree with Pitt politically and can't identify excruciatingly bad writing, how can you still not laugh at such pomposity mixed with delusions of grandeur?

Why Skinner puts up with Pitt’s silliness is beyond me.

Why does every post at DU say “Do Not Donate to DU”? Not that I would give them anything anyway.

Somehow, he made it into a 2000+ word essay extolling his keyboard heroism and the sacred task of restoring the nation that he alone is charged. . . . It's ALWAYS . . . all about Will.

In the liberal, DU spirit: Wishing Jim Robinson a speedy recovery from his surgery Yes, most (not all) of the posts on that thread seem to be decent. But they reference another DU thread that apparently was anything but. Hmmm. . . .

I thought about trying to go find the vile thread, but didn’t. I don’t have a login there, don’t want one. I was just surprised and pleased at the thread I found, thought I should share it.
The vets on that thread struck me as genuine, and I thought Jim might like it.
I study them every day.
