Mocking hissy fit bump.
Some of our finest are not so subtle as to simply imply a threat:
Missouri: Cop Website Contained Apparent Death Threat Against Video Vigilante
-snip-
In the course of researching the incident, TheNewspaper learned from an inside source about a CopTalk posting dated June 29, 2007. A user calling himself "STL_FINEST" wrote the following item, presented unedited and in full:
in reply to "Who is this terd?"
I hope this little POS punk bastard tries his little video stunt with me when I pull him over alone- and I WILL pull him over - because I will see "his gun" and place a hunk of hot lead right where it belongs.

That sounds like he communicated a threat, and should be of interest to the authorities. Hopefully, Brett's attorney is looking into it.
Yep. That's when he started recording. He must be psychic - he knew something was going to happen.
Pfffft! Why am I asking you?
Why are you asking anyone? If you really wanted to know, you could ask him directly, but you don't.
I would never want to be the player in someone else’s poster.
Oh sure, just like all the other citizens out there with no audio/video....They're all just, "yes sir no sir" when speaking with LEOs.
Look, the LEO was set up...The LEO acted totally unprofessional, and said things that he no doubt totally regrets. Fact is this occurs all the time, because we've got many out there with very heavy badges.
And you know what? If citizens out there wanna install audio video in their vehicles, I say great! I could only weed out others, just like this guy.
You should consider leaving this thread. I could only help your position.
Just to refresh my memory I pulled up google earth. I was in the 5th house on Mullally Dr in St. Louis, MO. On the side that looks down on the commuter lot. You should bring up Google Earth or another satellite program and take a look for yourself. Both the kitchen window and the bedroom window looked down on that lot.
It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. This was a bad cop doing bad things. It’s good that he is off the force. Removing the bad cops will allow the public to once again trust the police.
The police have spent the last 20 years getting us to distrust them, about time it changed. Supporting evil just brings more evil. I would like to see a police force that I could respect once again. I’d like to tell my little boys that police are their friends, that’s something that’s very hard to do at the present and it’s sad.
I believe the address is 10108 Mullally Dr if that helps anyone. A perfect view into the commuter lot. Didn’t realize that it was that good until I looked at the Sat photo.
OK. Try this one. Why did he choose that moment to start recording? By the time the cop comes over, the recording is already at 1:07.
Geez. Almost like he knew something was going to happen, huh?
But wait. Answering that would require you to think! Can you do that? Are you capable? Ooooh. Too risky. Hitting abuse would be easier.
Indeed it could serve as a useful pruning tool - and most likely will:
To quote me:
With cameras getting cheaper and smaller all the time, and with the notoriety this incident has received, citizen recordings are likely to become MUCH MORE common.

I don't believe I said that. I actually think you're lying and trying to put me in a bad light. If I wasn't such a nice guy, I'd report you to the mods for intentionally misstating my position. Debate is one thing -- but saying that "He thinks it's ok for cops to destroy tapes that make them look bad and keep the ones that don't" is quite another.
I believe I said it was a dangerous game he's playing. If he chooses to play it, that is his choice.
Did I not? Or do you stand by your post?
Nah, I’m not going to hit abuse, you’re providing too much humor even though I’ve been up most of the night with this (I’m in Asia right now).
The lot is only 5 minutes from his house. He probably turned it on soon after leaving his neighborhood.
Let’s break it down to steps.
1. He leaves his house
2. Gets in his car
3. Probably calls friend to let her know he’s on his way
4. Hangs up phone (please don’t start a discussion on whether it was hands free or not)
5. He’s almost to the lot
6. Turns on recorder (I believe he stated in an earlier threat that he turns it on when ever he goes driving.)
7. Is nearing the lot
8. Signals his turn
9. Goes in
You know the rest. Had he turned on the camera any later the disgraced offer could then claim probable cause (as he tried). However we got to see the turn signals.
He would probably have turned it on earlier, but most likely was distracted. If you want a better answer try asking Brett himself, he seems like a real stand-up guy.
Maybe the next time I’m out in the St. Louis area he’ll let me buy him a beer (he should be 21 by then, just so you don’t get your panties in a bunch)
Is the recording at 1:07, or is it 1:07 into the fraction of the recording you're looking at?
Is that timestamp on the video itself, or just on the media player window? Do you understand the difference?
He didn't (and couldn't) know that.
All he knew before he turned into the parking lot was that HE was going to give the cop a hard time if confronted. He hit the jackpot when the cop took the bait.
If the cop would have kept his cool, there's always the delete key.
He’s reading the posts. He’s free to weigh in any time.
Since he’s registered, don’t you think you ought to follow protocol, and include him in your replies if you’re going to make accusations about him?
The part you’re complaining about was not quoted from you, but any reasonable person’s understanding of your point of view. The poster just spelled out what you’ve been saying this whole time.
If you don’t mean that, maybe you should clarify your position much better.
The only abuse on this thread has been by you, but it is so comical that none of us want to complain about it.
We would probably ignore you, but then you might stop giving us stuff to laugh at.
You say this and it's OK. I've been saying this since my first post, yet you think I should leave the thread.
Are you all right? Not feeling well?
He probably is.
What started out as unfounded accusations agaist an absent third party are now personal attacks on a registered member.
Trivia question for you?
What was the badge number for Sgt. Friday?
Hint: It’s the area code for a county just south.
