A career long pursuit of CFR though is hard to sweep under the table.

Pissant and everyone,
One request for everyone.. just to keep the conversation clear, can we spell out if CFR is Council on Foreign Relations or Campaign Finance Reform when discussing..

The latter, campaign finance. Though I do think he was a CFR (former) member, but I have no idea what he did with that group.

I was one of the people who shouted the loudest for Bill Clinton’s’ head but the fact is we gained nothing from the impeachment of Bill Clinton and in retrospect I wished we had never done it. If we had not pushed so hard Clinton would have been disgraced and not be a major fund raiser today and we would not have a senator Hillary.

But fredheads have already had to squirm thru a couple episodes that will certainly come up again.

I'm sure if Hunter was on the radar, there would be some news articles that his supporters would have to 'squirm thru' as well, it is the nature of the game. I've heard a few things about clients that Hunter represented 'pro-bono' and some votes that aren't that far off from the ones people complain about from Fred, but I'm not going to play the game.. I know, just like the immigration votes (as misrepresented by NumbersUSA) that any vote can be twisted to make someone appear pro or con any subject..

Vanity candidacies like Hunter's are the "clutter."

Yet his record on the 2A does not stack up with Hunter’s.

Perhaps not, it doesn't stack up against Ron Paul's either, but he is eminently more electable than both of them.

I am a political independent, and do not vote in primaries. The Pubbies will have to woo me. LOL.

That said, if Thompson gets the nom, he will get my volunteering time, and anything else I can do. If Duncan or Paul get the nom, they'll get my vote and a bumper sticker on my car. If Romney, gets it, he'll get my vote, but only because the other side is so contemptible. McCain or Giuliani get it, I'll be voting independent.

One of Thompson's positives is the wide appeal. Fred is one of the few (if not the only) candidate who is both conservative and can gain appeal with conservative Democrats.

Rudy might be able to do that, but he's a RINO.
Hunter is definitely conservative, but he can't gain that broad appeal.
Then there's Mitt... conservative enough to be likeable by some Republicans, liberal enough to drive some Republicans away, but not really spectacular enough to get the attention of conservative Democrats.

Almost everyone in DC is a CFR member, although someone recently showed that he was a member through his lobbying firm (Fox) and did not have and individual membership.

Yeah, that work as an adult for the gov’t started in Vietnam. Then he for 9 years in the private sector. And you should be thanking the good Lord that we have had him in the congress since 1980.

I hate to say it, but it is worse.. walk out on the street or in your office and ask people to list as many Republicans running in the primary and I would bet Hunter doesn't make the list.. hell, I doubt most average people could name more than three.. No matter how shallow it sounds, marketing is a big part of the game.. when you live in a country where most people can't recognize the VP or Secretary of State and the media really does run the campaign, how does a 1% candidate break through that barrier?

“Come out and fight like a man, Fred Thompson!”

Just curious:

Will you support Thompson when he wins the nomination?.....

FYI, that is a generic image.. Ron Paul’s says the same thing... (albeit, I think Ron Paul needs a warning label tattooed to his forehead.)

Yeah, I know it is. Pissant isn’t intellectually honest about anything he does, so I’ve given up trying to be when dealing with him.

Nope. You can “interpret” fred’s stay in the congress in a multitude of ways, just like everyone now is trying to decipher where he stands on abortion, illegal immigration and campaign finance reform NOW. There is no ambuguity with Hunter.

...how does a 1% candidate break through that barrier?

Perhaps by dispatching pawns to spam conservative websites with hitpieces on the electable conservative frontrunners.

No, the fleetfooted tapdancers are the clutter. Eventually Fred’s legs will get tired.
