Government should stay out of it... The ultimate decision must be made by the women... Government should treat its citizens as adults capable of making moral decisions on their own.” — Fred Thompson, July 1994

Roe v Wade was a bad decision. But when it’s overturned, it hopefully won’t be because the justices think abortion is wrong. Hopefully, it will be returned to the states, where it belongs. What a justice thinks about abortion ought to be irrelevant, as GWB says it was for his picks.

No, Hunter will be here for our interview in a few weeks, actually.

In the words of Austin Powers, “Ouch baby, ouch”.

Not only that, but it was found that Thompson didn’t even work for the lobbying firm on the dates the group hired them:

That's not clear.

Take a look at registrant #2661 in the FARA search system. Fred D. Thompson, according to their records, starts as a lobbyist for foreign business on 10/10/1991 and terminates on 9/17/1993, which is when he decided to run for the remainder of Al Gore’s term in the Senate.

That only means that he wasn't registered to lobby for foreign businesses at that time. The group is domestic.

The rumors are that the company has found billing records showing that Fred did bill time for working for that group. That doesn't mean that he lobbied for them, and there are a lot of holes in the LA times story that make it obvious that the story wasn't completely true, but it appears that Fred may have worked for that client for a very short period of time.

Working for them as a lawyer does not mean that he advocated abortion for them, and it appears the woman who claimed he lobbied for them was lying. However, Fred can't give any details about what he did do because disclosing such information to the public would likely be an ethics violation.

And take your complaints to Brody and Joe Carter, both Fred fans, for publishing this scurrilous stuff.

No, Hunter is a good conservative. But a handful of his supporters are just this pathetic, and worse.

Are you telling me that Hunter is not feeding this? Pissant is his most vocal supporter on FR. And seems to be in constant contact with his campaign.

These kinds of attacks are most likely being fed to him by Hunter's men. If not, let Hunter prove they aren't. After all, that's what Pissant claims Thompson must do. Until Hunter denounces these kinds of attacks convincingly and calls off his attack dog, I will continue to charge him for Pissant's actions.

Fred obviously hasn’t won over the Rudy folks or the Mitt folks yet. If he wins, I’ll support him. But it is my intention to see him lose. I support only one man in the primary.

Except that’s who his client was and he did in fact lobby, according to the the reports.

If by "he did in fact lobby," you mean that Thompson lobbied, then you have no proof of that. Those billing records do not prove that he lobbied, as that term is commonly understood by he public.

The fact that Arent Fox was his client (for all of 20 hours of billable time) is no more relevant than that a lawyer spent 20 hours advising someone charged with murder. In neither case does it imply any support for murder on the part of the lawyer.

Gett you panties unwadded. The FEED for these articles is there for all to see. Brody, Carter, Patterico, Hot Air, and many conservatives. No one is going to coronate Fred, certainly not the other candidates. Brownbacks people are all over him. As are Mitt’s. And it is Hunter who had the balls to call Rudy McRomeny to the carpet (Kennedy wing of the republican party).

You should not have put the Carter thread in news. It’s now in bloggers where it belongs. In your zest to promote your vanity candidate by trying to destroy the conservative who actually can win, try to at least play by the rules.

That quote almost sounds like a ringing endorsement for Roe v. Wade.

And you'll sink to any level trying to make that happen.

Sourcery, I think you responded to the wrong person.. I'm the one questioning the source until I see more (including records on what the billing was specifically for - if the billing records exist..) For all we know, he advised them on a speeding ticket or someone's personal taxes..

Like I said, take it up with Carter and Brody and the millions of other conservatives that want to see a differnt candidate win other than Fred. This may be a blip on the radar screen in the scheme of things. If Fred wins, he will have to do so just like any other candidate. Defend his past.

Why are you so concerned about my underwear? You use half-truths and fabrications to attack a good candidate, and then expect us to sit back and take it. You are a joke.

Pissant,
Where is the original source of this one, this is a blog post with no link to any original.. I've seen blogs after blogs post this, yet no one posts the original source. From my research, I think this original quote was taken from that questionable survey that Thompson has always denied filling out.
