Other than technical awards it (deservingly) won't be up for many awards. There wasn't a lot of dramatic tension in the movie. And none of the characters went through any great changes.

Okay.

Drawing a contrast between what, and in order to show what?

For starters, this post begins, "This the most anti-liberal movie I've ever seen in recent memory... "

Okay, so my original post to you was correct.

If, through your original post, you implied the irony that this movie was "anti-liberal" even though the protagonists here were abortionists, while the antagonists were the ones who, at one time in history, gave refuge to a group of people who needed it badly(from what I understand), then yes.

Else no.

Liberals will hate this movie because it celebrates the warrior culture that fights, defends, and dies for freedom. They like to believe that every evil can be negotiated with and that our warriors aren't needed. Knowing that they themselves don't have the courage to stand up to true tyranny where it exists they try to apply the label of "tyranny" to their own government, all the while standing in safety behind the walls manned by those warriors liberals think they don't need.

Quint and I saw the program about the battle last week. If you have On Demand, it's in there. Good artwork of the battle scenes too.

limpwristed girlie metrosexual liberals will hate this movie as they abhor violence and lack of sensitivity.

They rather watch a movie where two men cry and discuss their feelings for each other in a tent.

the libs are all squirming because of the very point you've made.... they look like pussies....and the patriots look like honorable heroic MEN. Hell even the Spartan women are more manly than the appeasers and back stabbing legislators/oracle tenders, who "advise and consent" to Lionidas's plan.... bwahahahahaha..

Just like the infamous Team America speech

We're d*cks! We're reckless, arrogant, stupid d*cks. And the Film Actors Guild are p*ssies. And Kim Jong Il is an assh*le. P*ssies don't like d*cks, because p*ssies get f*cked by d*cks. But d*cks also f*ck assh*les: assh*les that just want to sh*t on everything. P*ssies may think they can deal with assh*les their way. But the only thing that can f*ck an asshole is a d*ck, with some balls. The problem with d*cks is: they f*ck too much or f*ck when it isn't appropriate - and it takes a p*ssy to show them that. But sometimes, p*ssies can be so full of sh*t that they become assh*les themselves... because p*ssies are an inch and half away from assh*les. I don't know much about this crazy, crazy world, but I do know this: If you don't let us f*ck this assh*le, we're going to have our d*cks and p*ssies all covered in sh*t!

So, who better to send and stand in that gap, yes?

And you might well be judging the Spartans by our own highly developed civilization which has weapons which save us having to be so savage in order to maintain order.

The Oscars are decided by most people in the Industry not any 'upper echelon'. Most of the technicians who worked on 300 are probably members of AMPAS.

I'm actually not a big fan of the ancient Greeks, but it seems like it's dishonoring a great battle.

You haven't seen the movie. I just got back from it. I've avoided these threads until after I saw it. The men who died at  Thermopylae were paid the greatest honor the filmmaker knew how to make.

But will the upper echelon of Hollyweird allow any awards? Doubtful.

no...but a couple of hundred million dollars will reward the producers of "300"....

let the "awards" give out the little statuette. it's like the "Dixie Chicks" being named the Country and Western Entertainers of the Year....or Jethro Tull "hard rock" band of the year...bwahahahahahaha...

Libs are like flies...whatever they don't eat they sh#t on....

If a conservative is happy, that's punishment enough for the shallow, envious, pathetic libs...

How about Herodotus? He wrote the original.

Obviously I have not been schooled in the classics. ;-)

My, my, freedom44, you are a touchy one for sure!

I haven't seen the movie yet so I can not comment on your "falsity" comment. Nevertheless, the movie is based upon an actual event. You don't deny that do you? Neither do you deny the Greek/Persian Wars do you, or their outcome (Persians lost big time)? How about that wooden horse caper that the Greeks pulled on the Persians at the Battle of Troy? I bet that one really pisses you off, heh, heh.....
