I have been illegally stopped by the Mo State Police three times and had my car torn apart, searching for God knows what and my pockets emptied and my body frisked. One dare not protest for fear that they'll book you on some bogus charge and force you to pay bond and hire a lawyer and incur all sorts of expense and time. Even if the charges are dropped or never followed through they still can hurt a small self-employed person like me and of course they know this. I do not trust anyone in govt at all.

What's really scary is that the cops can plant a bag in your car and then you are really in trouble--and with no defense, either (since possession is 9/10th of the law).
