Good for you, I'm with you.

The headline is absolutely bogus. Since AFA dislikes the policy so much, why don't they just sign up for the affiliate program and instead of having 1million people boycott WM, have them do their online WM purchases through the AFA site, and then the AFA will get the commission.

Criminy.

I think the headline is similar to most headlines, and we need to read the article to get the full story.

The cash donation will come from ALL online purchases made at Wal-Mart through the homosexual group's Web site.

** Well I say the answer to this is to not buy through that website.

Alas most people do not choose to do so and jump to conclusions based upon (often) misleading headlines.

The guidelines for participation in the affiliate program are very specific. The network this one is through is very thorough, it is one I dealt with extensively some years back, at the time WalMart was not a participant.

In your anxiety to post a comment, you both missed this.

Actually I wasn't anxious about posting anything. I don't care about this issue so much to waste my adrenals.

I know some people do that. I never have. Not once. ;-)

It think the headline is accurate as far as headlines go, but it is also incomplete as far as headlines go. Perhaps this would be better:

Walmart contributes 5% of online pass-thru rates to Homosexual Group

I didn't miss it, that was not what I was addressing, I was addressing the misleading headline of the press release...nothing more, nothing less.

That is an accurate headline.....however it defeats the purpose in that such a headline is not headline worthy, because it is not news.

That's another place we differ, I suppose. I would still read the article as news worthy and I think everybody who agrees with AFA on this issue would read the article as news worthy. Of course I can really only speak for myself so I'm assuming here.

I didn't think so. So what if your money is used to actively promote the GLBT agenda to kids through the public school system. So what if the US legalizes gay marriage .. heck, it's just a piece of paper, right? What matters to you, is keeping those prices low so you can do your 'holiday' shopping at Wal-Mart. Thanks for your support!

Then going with your premise, why is AFA ONLY going after WalMart. Why are they not going after the Affilate Network. WalMart isn't the only retailer in that network, it only 1 of 1,000s and I am pretty sure WM is notthe only one with the affiliate link on a pro-homosexual website.

If AFA was so serious in its fight against the "homosexual agenda" they would not just be targetting WalMart with thes type press releases.

Just noticed - this is on "bloggers and personal"??? Did it start off that way or did they change it? Since when is the AFA website a blog?

GASP* Wal-Mart supports an affliate program that will kick back 5% to a website that sends them business.
THE HORROR!!!

They might even sell items to homosexuals who come into their stores and pay with cash.

I don't follow the AFA too closely, but they've targeted Ford for similar reasons: You Will Absolutely Not Believe What Ford Has Done Now

I was talking specifically about the affiliate programs, which is an entirely different issue than the advertising of Ford. My question remains why is it only WM they are attacking regarding the affiliate program? I find it suspect that only one company is being singled out.

I'm sure they have their reasons. I could only guess myself. You can contact them through the website here: http://www.afa.net/contact.asp. If I remember, I'll call them tomorrow and ask.

From what I know of the AFA (they used to send me updates but I quit a couple of years ago since I just don't have time to read everything) they cover a lot of issues and send out info about a variety of corporations. This one happens to be about Walmart.
