Point one - Newt should have kept his big mouth shut! When he said the President is irrelevant, I believe that caused people to rally behing him. Just as we object to State and CIA trying to do a end around this President, he should not have announced his plans concerning Clinton. Just do it and let America see he was irrelevant. They might have voted him out in 96.
Point two - about every third election cycle - whether in power or not - the Republicans should come out with a ten-pont Contract plan. Keeps the people engaged with what Congress is doing.
And how can you protect yourself from 'Rat insanity if you're in bed with the lot of them ?
Lie own with dogs...wake up with fleas
We hear this bipartisanship needed to make Congress work. No way. We need this nation to either be conservative or liberal. We didn't need a president of the opposite party to hand the education policy over to Teddy Kennedy. We sure didn't need the Klintoon appointments to stay in place after the Hildabeast left the WH with its furniture. I truly feel bad about ragging on GW because he was the ONLY viable choice we got via this corrupt "Two-Party Cartel" & I wish him the best.
If we want there to be a large group of conservatives to run the contry and roll back socialism, we have to do as the socialists have been doing in this country for over 80 years - infiltrate and educate.
"Certainly, I can imagine leaving the Republican Party. It's far from perfect.
However, in their current configuration, I simply cannot conceive of myself turning to the Democrats."
I think that's where most people with any facility for logical thought are located today.
The R's campaign like conservatives, then rule like libs, then on election day they say, "Surely you won't vote against us and put your very life in danger?"
The problem is that they are correct. The left is no longer the loyal opposition anymore. They are simply seditious.
If they R's had a mind to extend their hegemony, they'd start ruling like the majority party and dismantling the old liberal machine. No guts.
Galt's Gulch, eh? Thanks for your comments. You might be interested to know that the Infidel is also the entertainment editor at an Objectivist publication, "The New Individualist."
And that fact is why I am a Republican.
It is also why I might leave the Republican party.
But not now. Not with the Democrats being the only alternative.
So he becomes a Democrat...LOL, what hogwash! Who does he think he's kidding?
Sounds like some of our fellow freepers, to be frank.
It certainly does. The old divide and conquer tactic. It will never work, but that won't stop them from trying.
The Democrats are NOT the only alternative. Back in the early 1990's I quit the Republican Party and joined the Conservative Party. And if any of you really want to send a loud message to the Republican Party and to the do-nothing, apologist, girly-boys and girly-girls who the party continues to nominate and send to Congress every two years, then I stongly urge you to dump the Republican Party and register as a Conservative.
The primary down side is that in some states you may lose the right to vote in the Republican Primary. BFD given the fact that something like 99% of these losers are renominated year after year after year. On the positive side, in changing parties you will be moving to the right, rather than to the left, which will send a powerful message to your former party; you can still vote Republican in the general election if you are concerned about wasting a vote that could push the seat to the Dems (in many races Pubs and Conservatives will endorse the same candidate anyway); and by donating your hard earned money to the Conservative Party rather than the Republican Party, you will be forcing the Republican Party to move to the right to compete for our dollars.
My point is that we do have a choice other than Republican scat and Democrat scum: Join the real Conservative Party.
And the Conservative Party has elected how many candidates? At any level?
If all you have ever done is grift enough votes from a Republican candidate to elect the Democrat, what the hell have you accomplished?
Go back and read my post -- You can still vote Republican, while sending a powerful message to the Republican Party that we do have a choice about where we spend our money.
You're almost onto me! Now let's see if you can carry that ball to the goal line!
The alternative is voting the candidate that best represents your core values.
I stopped voting party a long time ago. It just so happens that my values are more along the lines of Republicans. However, if Zell Miller was running against for arguments sake, Bill Frist, I would have a hard time voting for Frist.
No problem.
"All Newt did was what he always did.. he was there to take the credit."
The only one who took and I might add was given credit by the MSM for balancing the budget and welfare reform was Bill Clinton NOT Newt Gingrich. The only time before or since I've seen a balanced budget was when Gingrich was Speaker of the House.I seriously doubt Ross Perot had anything to do with Democraps winning the House in '92 !!!
