"They have squeezed out the conservatives in the party."
We conservatives are still here and number millions.
And almost all conservatives are in the Republican party because that is the most effective place for conservatives to advance the cause.
Here's why AMERICA needs conservatives to stay Republican:
There is no place else for conservatives to go, if they are patriots. ... Sure, if you dont give a damn about the country, you will go third party, stop voting, or go insane like this 'consrevative punk' fool. if you are childish, demand perfection out of imperfect politicians who have to please many constituents, you'll never get 100%. so some give up. Too bad for the country when they do.
If you are a PATRIOT, you want America to succeed, you won't give up and you won't do dumb things.
For America to succeed, it cannot be led by the Democrats - infested with treasonable ideas, socialist clap-trap, and seeks degradation of society. The Republican party is the only American political party that can lead us away from the danger zone that the leftist Democrats place us in.
Teddy Roosevelt spoke of those who get "in the arena".
That is a duty not just for candidates who run for office, but for voters in the voting booth.
If you are - like me - pro-freedom, pro-family, pro-life, pro-American, pro-war-on-terror and against socialism, anti-Americanism, Big Government, liberal extremism, etc., you have one choice: Support, vote, work for, help and advocate for the conservative cause. In the ballot box, that is voting Republican 99% of the time in general elections, because 99% of the time the more conservative candidate is the Republican.
That's the simple reality. There is a lot more conservatives can do, but the most important thing conservatives can do is this: Keep the Republican party conservative, and keep it winning... by abandoning the Republicans, we lose both, and America suffers.
Yikes, 1994 was the biggest change in Congressional control in 50 years and you say that?!?!?
Fact is, the Contract helped gel many of the campaigns and give them focus in being *for* something, not just against. It helped sharpened the difference in ideas and bring back the Perot type voters to the GOP.
There were many factors in 1994 in the wave (#1 being the Clinton tax hike of 1993 and failed health care plan #2, and attack on gun owners #3), but to diss Newt on a great and effective idea that was good policy and good politics is just plain wrong.
This year the Democrats have nothing to offer but despair, defeatism and dishonesty ... I'm guessing the shift in seats will actually be single digits (6-9) and no more.
What does IBTZ mean?
In Before the Zot
Bob Barr whacked himself when he did not abide by the new districting lines and decided to go up against John Linder.....who crushed him.
I don't think Bob is a bad guy, but he lost because of his own decisions.
Thanks.
Centrist, nothing. They're liberals who don't want to call themselves liberals.
Politicians suck. Democrat politicians suck the most.
This bullsh!t is put out there to make Conservatives stay home and lose hope. OUR NATION IS AT WAR, AND ANYTHING THAT ATTEMPTS TO REMOVE THE REPUBLICANS FROM POWER IS AN ATTACK ON OUR NATION. We cannot allow liberals to use the old "divide and conquer" playbook! We must stay on offense and kill the enemy. dims would destroy our Nation and the world with their ignorant, selfish ideology.

Agreed, Common Tator. Remember the 1998 midterms? The GOP lost sight of what it stood for, and just expected the impeachment campaign against Uncle Slick to gain seats for them. The only thing that America knew about the GOP that year was that it was against Clinton, and not really *for* anything. Result? The GOP lost seats.
We'll lose seats this year, but it will be manageable. Fortunately, Nancy Pelosi has done nothing to nationalize this race for the Dems. Of course, her idea of a Contract With America would be a restatement of Lenin's "Little Red Book"...

(Sorry about the double post!)
>>This guy is a Catholic who is a Deist and is for the legalization of prostitution? I don't think so...<<
Yeah, I don't remember seeing that one in my Baltimore Catechism in fourth grade.
"Certainly, I can imagine leaving the Republican Party. It's far from perfect. "
Leaving the party is irrelevant these days. Your just as likely to be a Democrat as you are to be a Republican.
Question is; Are you a Conservative or are you a Marxist? Everyone in between is a Liberal and party doesn't mean squat.
His party wasn't conservative enough for him, so he became a liberal.
I don't follow this at all.
Support things like Club for Growth and other conservative organizations who promote and support conservatives with conservative principles. That is the best way to continue the GOP heading rightward. People assume that everyone in GOP was conservative "back in the day", and are now trending leftward and going weak on reforms. Not true, Reagan was conservative and began the conversion process in the GOP, but there are still many politicians that don't really care about conservatism who are GOP. As Dandy Don Meredith used to say: "The NFL isn't what it used to be, and it never was."
So this means voting for RINOs because they have a (R) behind their name. So Rove can put 300 RINOs in office & that's OK? That's keeping the R party conservative?
Yea. This is precisely why true conservatives are so frustrated with this administration. BTW, I liked & agree with this cats writing, except NEVER would I go over to the dark dems side.
