And...... (drum roll) ......... the main assumption is that gold will continue to be a rare and desired metal.
This is just a couple of weeks after a definitive report had been made concerning the exact bacteria that can extract gold ions out of water and mud, then deposit gold nanoparticles for easy removal by people.
You're going to see $3.00 gold in less tha 10 years. Gasoline will cost more.

You are overconfident. With proper use of this bacteria the thin deposits in Fairfax County, Virginia (from Great Falls to Gold Vein VA) can probably be worked to provide as much gold as has ever been discovered in history.
The Egyptian tailings, those of Turkey, Greece, Afghanistan, Peru, Mexico, California and all the other sites of major gold strikes will be reprocessed and gold's price will fall to the level dictated by the demand for gold in industry.

Perhaps, but it's a bet I'm willing to make. If you were to convert M3 into gold, gold would be worth around $30,000 per ounce. Those bacteria sure have their work cut out for them!
