The Bostonian Idiot is boring!

As are most of those in the penultimate stage of irreversible alcoholic damage, which pretty much describes the Bostonian Idiot, who's getting closer and closer to the giggles-cell.

Cindie, do you think they could be referring to the surgeon at Seattle's Country Doctor Clinic, with staff priveleges at Swedish Medical Center Providence, also in Seattle, who performed a stent placement on Andy, and was scheduled to perform further surgery at the end of April, until the date, according to "great aunt of triplets" was changed to May 2nd, or May 4th?

I don't think so. Beth didn't get involved until Andy having "done his homework", according to Karen Johnson, decided he NEEDED to go to Johns Hopkins. Given the level of incompetence they were always complaining about I'm surprised Johns Hopkins is able to function at all...it was like watching the Keystone Cops meets General Hospital...and this in spite of the fact that the ever helpful Miss Waverly (Queen of the Dust Bunny Palace) works there. Evidently he didn't do enough research, however, because 5 minutes on the internet would've shown him that Virginia Mason has excellent success rates treating pancreatic cancer. In fact, they're SO successful that their protocols have been adopted by the top pancreatic cancer hospitals across the country...including Johns Hopkins.

One wonders just how involved (or competent) Ms. Karen is since one would think she'd know how successful Virginia Mason is and could've saved her patient from having to wait so long for life-saving surgery. Plus, there wouldn't have been the stress of not knowing whether he would have the money by the surgery date since the state would have paid for his care. Of course that was before we knew he'd have to have a "super duper test" first, (which ironically was the same test he had done in Seattle right before he was supposedly having surgery there). Why he decided to cancel given the nature of his illness boggles the mind.

I don't know if Moore will end up inserting some sort of fiction that Andy was denied healthcare because of EVIL rightwingers but the CONTRARY facts are right here on the Web.

Like the facts have ever stood in Moore's way before?

Oh my god, what a wonderful tribute to Andy if his story was featured in a Michael Moore film.

On this, I agree. A fraud fraudulently memorialized by another fraud. Sounds fitting to me.

Does anyone remember exactly how much $$$ was raised for Andy?

Considering that there was zero accountability in the whole mess, of course not.

The primary focus is on how we had to raise money to get him help

... because the socialized medicine we're all demanding for everybody (else) available to Andy in his home state wasn't good enough for one of our own.

yapping on and on and on and on about how the whole Scamdy thing was financed by Karl Rove, the Republican National Committee, a former political ally and employer of the late one, George Bush, Richard Cheney, P-J Comix, and even the WCTU (Women's Christian Temperance Union), who were "out" to get the late one because he was "too dangerous" for the survival of the present administration. The disgruntled one is going to go on and on and on and on and on about this, until the representative of Michael Moore hangs up the telephone.

This is Michael Moore we're talking about. He'll probably not only want to include that rant in the film, it'll make it to the trailers as well.

Cindie, thanks for another great post.

I think your original point, that a patient with pancreatic cancer, as swift and deadly as it is, who postponed treatment, appeared on tv brimming with health, flew around the country, took train trips on non-existent railroads, sang show tunes on a prohibited cell-phone in ICU after seven hours of surgery, and, as we now learn is "escorted out of a building by security guards" on the very day he is scheduled for life-saving surgery, that patient would be considered atypical, a medical anomaly so striking that pancreatic cancer specialists world-wide would be clamoring to treat him at no financial cost.

Accepting the JH story requires that you suspend belief in the natural order of things. For Dummies, with their belief in magic and Tarot cards, their reliance on mind-numbing drugs to barely function, there is no natural order, there is no need for "proof," and the stringent protocols for referring a patient to a teaching hospital are suspended, so that the story line being peddled by the moneyraisers is not questioned.

Beth was actively promoting, pushing actually, the fundraiser on the very revealing DU thread of February 23, 2005. Andy appears to be reluctant to engage her services.

Will Pitt is now trying to disassociate himself from his early involvement in raising a lot of money for Andy, when he, Pitt, declared back on the same February 2005 DU thread, "I know how to raise big bucks."

In yesterday's DU thread he assumes a very un-Pittian air of self-deprecation, writing to "arwalden," "I basically gave the producer the back story and then set her up with the people who were closest to the fundraising."

I wonder who those "people closest to the fundraising" could be. Do you suppose he means Skinner, or Goodboy?

George Howland's depiction of Karen Johnson seems colored by Mr. Howland's apparently deep, personal commitment to Andy's tale, and may not be a reflection of the true nature of her participation in Andy's care in Seattle, nor of her personal and professional integrity.

The doctors at JH who called "hoax" on this in May 2005 have not been disproven.

That Andy was operated on for the removal of a non-malignant, 2 0r 3 centimetre growth at the distal tip of the bile duct on May 4th 2005 in Seattle, at Swedish Medical Center, paid for by Medicaid, with a long recuperation, none of it requiring private funds, is not easily dismissed when compared with the five act opera wherein a major, international teaching hospital is shown to be an abbatoir where dying men are hustled out and kicked to the curb because phantom financial officers like Christopher Parker and the lovely Kim of three names fail to notice hordes of DUers "ransacking the mailroom" looking for lost checks.

Picking up people at airport and then to beach. Sunrise service Sunday. He is risen, halleluja.

*BENBURCH NEEDS TO PM ME RIGHT NOW*

You know... if the intent of PPP was really to talk to benburch, why wouldn't he just PM him directly, rather than post this to the general message board?

The answer, of course, is obvious. It's a painfully clumsy attempt by Pitt to make himself look important ("I'm working with Moore on his next picture") while acting humble ("just a middle-man here, don't pay me any attention other than READING BY BOLD PUBLIC POSTINGS ABOUT WORKING WITH MOORE'S PEOPLE").

I just spent a couple of hours reading back over the threads from AndyScam days.

One thing that hit me: When he had to keep postponing his lifesaving surgery time and time and time again for lack of funds, and then the PayPal hold came on the DU funds, he posted a message that Johns Hopkins had already been paid, even though they had lost the cashiers checks. One poster asked how that was possible if PayPal had put a hold on the funds. A wealthy friend had fronted him $50K until the PayPal funds were released, said one of the in-the-loopers.

Um, if he had wealthy friends who loaned him that kind of money on the spot the very day the PayPal funds were frozen, why did he not get the $$ from the same friend and get the surgery as originally planned, especially if it was dire and urgently needed to save his very life? Just more evidence, IMHO, of the dubiousness of the entire thing.

Cindie,

It just occurred to me, if this movie deal goes through, the producers, Amy and Steph, will certainly want to talk to Peter Angelos, who, according to DU, intervened in JH's normal patient acceptance procedure, to get Andy into JH.

Carol Sterrit, reporterette for the Coastal Post wrote a very touching, if factually erratic, article entitled "Bad Stuff for Black Box (Andy Stephenson Story.)

The last paragraph reads, "On Tuesday, May 19th, I called Mr. Angelos. His secretary said that if the call was related to Stephenson, then Angelos had asked that I be put right through. After a short introduction, I explained my predicament. I needed to ask: Was it true that Angelos had offered help in the matter of the Johns Hopkins operation?"

That was the end of the Carol Sterrit article in the Coastal Post. Nothing else. Not one word of Mr. Angelos's response to whether or not "it was true..."

However, on Friday, July 1, 2005 at 3:25 P.M., sfexpat2000, aka, Beth Ferrari, posted Carol Sterrit's article on DU. Clumps of letters and symbols were scattered throughout the text of the article.

Sfexpat2000 claimed in one post, that the link to the original article "cuts the article off, so I had to post what the reporter mailed me. Sorry!"

Goodboy posts on the same day, at 3:40 P.M., "What's the deal with all the symbols in the article?"

Sfexpat2000..same day...3:44P.M. responds to Goodboy, "No idea. Carol [Sterrit] had to mail me a copy, machine problems galore."

To a post, same day at 6:17 P.M., from Kelvin Mace, aka, David Allen of Plan 9 Publishing, former associate of Bev Harris, complaining about the "very unprofessional look" of the formatting of the article, Beth responds at 9:21 P.M., "Sorry, they [Coastal Post] were having machine troubles for the last few days."

Pinto on same day at 10:23 P.M., "Locking. After Mod discussion, consensus was to lock this one. Thanks, Pinto, DU Mod."

In Sterrit's article printed in the Coastal Post, without signs and symbols allegedly indicating a "broken machine" the last sentence is a question on the phone to Peter Angelos , and the article ends there, with no response from Angelos.

However, in the article Beth/sfexpat2000 posted on July 1, 2005 on DU claiming it was Sterrit's completed article, which Sterrit had mailed to her, Peter Angelos, a man not noted for verbosity, becomes positively florid in his language, displaying a peculiar speech pattern, as if he were fantasizing how a rich benefactor would address such a curious case of generosity thwarted.

"His reply was offered quietly and humbly. 'A>A?A1/2ItA>A?A1/2strue that IA>A?A1/2ve done a few small things for Andy. I was more than happy to arrange for the operation that he needed. I wished that I had known about all his difficulties, then I could have offered him more help than I did.A>A?A1/2.'

"Angelos came across as a truly gracious and benevolent person. When I mentioned how StephensonA>A?A1/2s operation was postponed, Angelos was stunned. 'A>A?A1/2I thought he would be home recovering by now.'"

"A<A?A1/2The severity of of the delay hung bitterly in the air. Angelos realized the gravity of the situation. A,A?A1/2 a seriously ill individual being denied the needed operation, forced to wait an additional sixteen days."

"I hung up feeling elated. Perhaps I had been played by Bev Harris, as had many others. But Stephenson remains, as always, the genuine thing. The task now before him is to survive the surgery rescheduled for May 26th at Johns Hopkins. Then to gather his inner strength and undertake a full recovery."

"He deserves our prayers and best wishes. As the FBI is now investigating the matter, perhaps those responsible for shutting down the PayPal account will be found out. Apparently, that agency agrees with Mr. Angelos A,A?A1/2 it is a serious matter to delay an operation needed to save a personA<A?A1/2s life.

Should the perpetrator(s) be found out, they will be facing severe penalties."

My attempt to recreate the clumps of symbols interspersed through the article is not as successful as it would be had I used the foreign symbols keyboard. There were tildes, umlaats, upside-down question marks.

Johns Hopkins must have the same keyboard as the Coastal Post when broken, since the same symbols, in the same sequences and in blocks, headed the e-mails allegedly sent by Dr. Yeo, and one sent to Beth from Kim the JH Finance Officer.

The Coastal Post has never reprinted Sterrit's article as it was posted by sfexpat2000/Beth Ferrari, on DU on July 1, 2005.

DU's Amazona strikes on this July 1st thread, at 8:35 P.M. in response to the article.

"Really the perp was a clerk at Johnms Hopkins. If I was a freeper I'd be very tempted to e-mail this whole thread and link to the hospital in question.

Andy himself posted that the surgery was delayed because of a misplaced check in the mailroom. I'm sure they would be fascinated to see that these kinds of claims are being made, since they would be the defendant in a legal action.

I think we should e-mail the admin and ask that this thread be removed. This can't possibly help Andy and it could very badly hurt him.

Lies and exaggeration do not help our cause. You do not want the FBI investigating you when you have people claiming to be on your side, who are telling lies.

Lying to an FBI agent, even though you are not under oath or in court, is a federal offense with mandatory prison time.

This is a mess people. Shut down the exaggerated claims. I've known people investigated by the FBI. It ain't pretty. You could be putting a sick, man in grave danger."

What a coup if Mikey Moore can get Peter Angelos in his movie.

I'm still here; every one's coming here then head out tomorrow afternoon. Storms expected tonight and tomorrow morning.

114. How Does Moore's Producer Feel About Second-Hand Information On Andy?

Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 11:17 AM by arwalden
You know what would REALLY have the biggest emotional impact? I'm guessing what the movie probably needs is first-hand information and an actual on-screen interview with either Ted or Andy's mother.

What was the reaction when you contacted Andy's family directly? You're pretty close with Andy's family, right? Did you get a good sense of how they were feeling about it all? Do you think the chances are good that either of them will be willing to appear on film?

I imagine that they are busy moving on with their lives and all... but I would think that for something as important as this, they would do this for Michael Moore, and for Andy of course.

edit: typo.

115. y'all...I know everyone is excited and all, but...

I talked to one of the MM folks yesterday and they'd like to keep the whole thing low profile for now. Don't want to even accidentally dredge up the same kind of freeper shitstorm we had prior to Andy's passing.

I have been busy and haven't been to FR in a while.

Garden mailed me the DU thread so I came here to check out the DUFU's after reading over yon.

The one thing above all the hit me like a brick, was termites comment!!!!

He doesn't want to talk to MM? His beloved Andy immortalized and he wants no part of it?

What is he hiding?

Could it be all the money he had in the bank and didn't use it to help Andy? What is it?

Inquiring minds want to know!!!!!!!
