PolishProud said,

It's simple. If an employer knowingly hires an illegal, said undocumented worker could report the employer to the INS and he would get immediate citizenship and a $2,000 bounty and the employer would be fined $5,000.

So, let me get this straight. You want to deputize illegal aliens as legal undercover agents to snitch on U.S. citizens--- then reward them with citizenship and money.

WTF!

Our senators are supplying all the testimony the illegals will need when they come seeking reparations from the American taxpayers.

How bout this? Money makes the world go around so...

1. Pay a bounty to bounty hunters for capturing illegals and delivering them to law enforcement.

2. Pay a reward to private citizens for information that leads to the capture and deportation of illegal immigrants.

3. Pay a reward to private citizens for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone employing, aiding or abetting illegal immigrants.

3. Create a system of fines charged to private individuals and businesses that employ, aid and abet illegal immigrants to offset the paying of the above said bounties and rewards.

As you can see it may be economically beneficial to attack the illegal immigrant problem with the right attitude and methods.

So why not use the IRS template to control undocumented workers.

Because they are less concerned about tax revenue than donations to party coffers from businesses they allow to break the law?

You could be heavily fined for using illegally imported Cohibas to make a profit. Why couldn't we also put fines on using illegally imported Mexican workers to make a profit? Are you for or against the Cuban embargo?

Oh no, not the evil "profit"!

The mater of "using" is what I find interesting. It has a socialist tinge to it. The evil capitalist pigs are merely "using" the poor working man ... I look at at it as more of a mater of trade. Some trade their labor and others trade their cash. Both benefit from the transaction. We just need to be clear on what we are asking the government to regulate, for there are alway unintended results. If we want the government to require we check the immigration status of everyone we trade with, fine. Just be aware it can lead to retailers also checking the immigration status of everyone they trade with also. I do not think this is a path we want to head down, but I'm just funny that way.

I say the border should be fortified so that the best way in is legally.

Castro is a nice guy, anyone in his jails will tell you so. Funny how Castro and his socialist friends would also talk about workers being used or exploited to make a profit. A Canadian company runs a mine there and pays the workers thru Castro's bank account. Best not to support Castro, or socialist thinking over here.

Sounds like fraud on the part of government as well.

Not fraud, bureaucracy.

The The illegal invasion from mexico is pitting us against each other, the pro illegals and the anti illegal groups.

What I don't understand is how there could even be one pro illegal person when faced with the facts of why they are bad for this country, the facts are overwhelming against them!

If an employer does not withhold FICA, an employee can turn him into the IRS. What's the difference? If the employer touches all the bases - verifying SS#, green card or guest worker card - what does he have to fear from a "deputized" illegal alien?

So I've heard/been told...

If someone is (falsely) earning $s under your SS#, it's a pain for you to reconcile.

Employers declare & pay SS taxes quarterly.
The SSA informs those employers when a discrepancy exists (current discrepancies = 9 mil/yr) but doesn't enforce.

So, 9 mil bogus/illegal workers + dependents = ?? million.

I understand your point, but I reject the irony of virtually turning illegal aliens into agents of the Immigration & Naturalization Service.

Another idea:
If an "illegal" volunteers for a two year hitch with the Army, he or she is rewarded immediately with citizenship for self, plus his or her spouse and children if they are already living in U.S.
(If the "illegal" receives a dishonorable discharge, they all have to leave U.S. (or move to Massachusetts and run for Congress).

I am far from a socialist. We as a country have decided that trade with Cuba is a bad idea because of the policies of a corrupt tyrant. We therefor have made it illegal to import and sell Cohibas. We as a country have also determined that to retain any semblance of an autonomous sovereign nation we need to determine who and how many foreigners enter our country. We therefor have made it illegal to hire "undocumented" workers. I don't see how you can be for one scenario and oblivious to the other.

I THINK IF YOU TAKE A GOOD LOOK, YOU WILL SEE THAT MOST OF THE PRO ILLEGALS ARE ILLEGALS THEMSELVES AND DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO BE PROTESTING IN THIS COUNTRY ANYWAY.
