Pournelle is right of most of us and certainly right of those who have high-jacked the Conservative movement, the Neo-cons.

This excessive spending only exemplifies the need for a flat tax rate that varies with government spending. When next the politicians vote for higher spending, the people will cry to them, "why did you increase my taxes?" And then thy must reply truthfully, "to construct an indoor rain forest in a small Iowa town, without which the terrorists will have won for reasons that you mere citizens cannot comprehend!"

The guys is right, but don't fall for this "neo-cons" bogey man. All the republicans are in on it, not just the "neo-cons". To many, Neo-con is just a code word for jooooos. It would be a shame for the main stream crooks to get away with using the old canard of scheming joooos to avoid responsibility for their actions.

"It no longer matters which party wins the elections."

Sad but increasingly true.

And he just figured this out??? He's blazing no new trail here, folks. The current state of the republican party is an abomination. George Bush has become a disgrace. What is he conservative about? Abortion, Military, Gay marriage, and assisted suicide. That's it. Fiscally you can add tax cuts but that goes hand in hand with government spending cuts, which he's a raving liberal on.

If it doesn't matter which party wins, then it doesn't matter if you vote. So much for the illusion of "of, by and for the people".

This country is screwed.

Yep, fiscal responsibility is no more. But, at least the next few generations can pay for it. LOL.

For the most part, the only people I see saying that are the neocon suck-ups themselves.
Give it a rest... you're getting worse than Al Sharpton.

Neo-con is one who left the Democrat party because of their "softness" on the Comintern (International Communism). Is William F Buckley jewish? After-all he is the original "neo-con, and no, I do not blame him for the ills of out of control spending, vote buying and corruption that is winding its way through the halls of Congress.

Ah no, but you'll have to read Pournelle to know what he figured and when.

Wrong side of the political house. I enjoyed watching Pat back in the late 80's and 90's, especially on McLaughlin (opposite Jack Germond, Eleanor Clift and "MOR TON". But no, I am not a supporter of much, if anything, Pat stands for.

I'm a small EL libertarian and as such would like to see power devolve to the States and to the People, not concentrated vis. a. vis "No Child Left Behind" (which is a stupid and arrogant law written by stupid and arrogant politicians).

Small minds and true-believers have a way of holding on to that which they once belived in as if it were a life-line. It gives them balance during troubling times.

There was a time that I would argue for ever about "your vote DOES count". I wish I still felt the same, but unfortunately I don't and the Republic is indeed in a sad state of affairs.

The profligacy of Republicans, who I loyally and regularly vote for, is disheartening, dismaying. I don't know what to say anymore.
