"The childless shouldn't be allowed to vote. They have little interest in the future of the nation."
Well then I guess I shouldn't have to pay property taxes so your yard monkeys can go to school either.
(* No, not really)
A few years ago, the hew and cry was fear over the "poplation bomb," we were going to have too many people in the world for the Earth's resources, so the "responsible" thing was to have NO kids.
So which way is it?
They can't have it both ways.
Childless people don't get a free ride at all. Do they not pay real estate taxes that support schools they'll never send childen to?
Childless people are investing in the future of other people's children. My taxes don't go down because I didn't give birth to one of my own.
"The childless shouldn't be allowed to vote. They have little interest in the future of the nation."
Neither should those that live off the public teat.
Anyone on welfare etc.. is a ward of the state and like a ward should get no say so in the financial dealings of the country.
I'd prefer those who don't pay taxes to be out of the voting pool. Otherwise you are supporting (in oh so many ways) irresponsible non-taxpaying welfare dynasties over those who are productive in business, if not in children.
Darn right! What do the childless think this is, a free country???
Hey, Shannon! I'm childless! Why don't I just stop working, go home, apply for welfare, and stop paying taxes! Then you'll see a REAL parasite, buzzard-breath!
Go to hell, troll.
"The childless shouldn't be allowed to vote."
Au contraire, voting rights should be allocated as a percentage of the tax you pay since you are voting on who will decide what will be done with your money.
Besides, there will soon be no room for children, the space having been taken up by illegal immigrants and their children. Humm, that gives me an idea: every childless American can be forced to adopt a Mexican family and pay for the Mexican childrens education, medical costs, etc. But then again, that's no different from the present status.
In regards to the idiotic statement that let off this thread I have this to say. "No taxation without representation." No vote means no taxes paid.
Secondly in regards to the insane idea that everyone should have children I can only say that the fact that I can reproduce proves that there is no intelligent design.
Please tell me you're joking...
Good thing there's welfare, eh? (You need to find more productive work.)
"The childless shouldn't be allowed to vote. They have little interest in the future of the nation."
That is so wrong on so many levels it's hard to come up with a cogent response. Here's my stab at it.
I know a lot of people who shouldn't have even been THINKING of having children (because of their lifestyles, partners, immaturity, mental problems, drug use, etc.) yet they all have two or three. Now, let's calculate the cost to society that these so-called "selfless" parents have wrought, shall we? The trauma, drama, instability and pain these children are enduring will, unless they are very unusual, result in future burdens to the welfare system, food stamps, Medicare, the court system, drug rehabs, court-appointed psychiatrists, halfway houses, jails and prisons and their followups, parole and probation departments. This is, of course, not to mention the pain and suffering they will cause their victims throughout their lives, including innocent bystanders like me who had nothing to do with the decision of their parents to have children. You get my point? The next time you think of people who don't have children as "selfish" - do us all a favor - think again.
I hate coming in late on these threads, when all the obvious weaknesses have already been exposed.
But this one is glaring:
Children (and adults) are no longer expected to produce; lots of multigenerational public pets.
Sort of takes the wind out of the sail of the argument.
If on the other hand, children are fed and housed (but not the adults who profit from them) then this might be a rational statement.
Economically, we should ban abortion then, right?
I guess I am old fashion that way.
well well well, talk about disenfranchisement.
