Keep reading. They get loonier.
Working class ... or the slacker-in-the-office-who-gets-nothing-done class? Take a look at this, do you have someone in your office like this:
"At what point do we become a nation of Refuseniks, and begin the destruction of the Republican Dictatorship by;
Quitting,
Striking,
Calling out sick,
Slowing down,
Misfiling,
Freecycling,
Boycotting,
Refusing to spend money.
Refusing to watch television,
And generally being individual obstructions to the smooth running of the fascist state?"
What, and miss "Will and Grace" and "The West Wing"? That's too much to sacrifice for liberal principles.

Let me preface this
with I DO have a mind of my own; however, there are times I depend on others more informed to help me understand (that is why I am a contributing member to DU). That said, WHERE IS WILL PITT and what is he thinking about this fiasco?

Dear Sen Salazar,
I live in Denver. When campaign time came around last year, I was so excited. It was the first campaign that I became so active. I felt like putting more Democrats in office here in Colorado was of the utmost importance.
I am not a wealthy man. Although educated, my job is blue collar. Every cent is important to our budget in my household. And because of that...so is my time.
That's why, after spending WEEKS of MY spare time phonebanking and canvassing neighborhood after neighborhood for you, I am so upset. I can pick up more work at anytime. Yet I passed on it to help YOU get in office. And ask your aides at your office. The ones that talked to me today can tell you that I'm so angry, I'm on the verge of tears.
You f****ing owe me. I worked my ass off for you...and you spit in my face. If I wanted a Republican in office, I would've devoted my time to them.
Grow a set of balls and SHUT THEM DOWN!!!
Signed,
Buddyblazon

2. Awful
You sound like a raving lunatic..."You f***ing owe me"????
That'll be filed in the kook drawer for sure. Tone it down.

4. I didn't mail it...
And absolutely not. I WILL NOT TONE IT DOWN! I have every right to be a raving lunatic. After months of him NOT doing what we here in CO voted him for, I just realized that I was hornswoggled.
That man received nearly a hundred hours of my FREE time! I am sick and tired of "friendly dems".
Enough is enough. Everytime he came through the office, I'd stop and smile in awe. Just like the rest of us suckers. What an idealistic idiot I was.
Well screw him...and if you don't like it...screw you too.

9. Would this be better?
My Dearest Senator,
As I spent much of my alloted recreation/work time devoted to your inspiring endeavor during the last campaign, I humbly (and mildly and little milquetoast-like) request that you support the good ol' fashioned right to a lenghty debate.
I am so excited to see you stand side by side the other elected Democrats to support the lengthy tradition of the filibuster.
Hoo-raw good sir...hoo-raw.
Signed,
Another limp-dick milque-toast mother****er built in your likeness,
Buddyblazon

11. So much for a reasonable medium
Only fanatics think like you, sir. If it's not "F*** YOU YOU DESPICABLE BASTARD!!!!!!" then it's "Your humble servant, etc." Those are your only two options, in your mind. I wonder if anyone ever listens to you at all. Your strategy is a failure, that's for sure.

10. I sent a similar letter last year after the bankruptcy bill passed, & after he confirmed Rice & voted for some other really bad legislation. I sent it to them in one of their postage paid contribution envelopes & told him basically the same thing. No response, but they did take me off their mailing list.
Send the letter. F*** Salazar. F***ing dino.

5. Exactly!
How can we compete when the elections are not fair...? Tons of headlines about some political mischief involved our party slashing tires, but barely a peep about the obvious stealing of the election in Ohio!

8. And with that kind of thinking...
...why even bother running? Why are you even on this site? Why even post on issues other than election "reform?" You can yell "stolen!" all day. It doesn't make it true, and it doesn't change the fact that we lost. I tire of baseless nonsense.

4. The table was set when GOPcronies bought control of broadcast media in 80s and 90s.
This has been a well-planned move by the fascists who first took over the Republican party and then the country.

American Pie (song) - Lyrics - rewritten: The Day Democracy Died
A long, long time ago,
I can still remember
How that freedom used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my way,
Then I could make some people say
Well, we had freedom for a while
But January made me shiver,
With every vote the dems delivered
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
I remember that I cried
When we lost, even though we tried
But something hurt me deep inside
The day Democracy died
*Chorus*
So bye, bye Miss America, why?
Drove my dollars to my party, but my party denied
And them Dino boys were drinking the koolaide
Singing this was the day Democracy died
Did you write the book of shame
And do you know that youre to blame
If the Constitution tells you so?
Now, do you believe what our Forefathers said?
Can our country be morally dead?
And can you teach us how to hide real low?
Well, we know that youre in bed with Bush
Cause we saw you kissin him on his tush
You both kicked Uncle Sam
Man, Ill keep doin what I can
I was a lonely teenage fightin back
With a petition and a pen of black
But I knew that I was out of luck
When I found out about you smucks (sic) [shmucks]
The day Democracy died
I started singing
Bye, bye Miss America, why?
Drove my dollars to my party, but my party denied
And them Dino boys were drinking the koolaide
Singing this was the day Democracy died
[I think you get the idea, so I'll spare you]
LOL! And both going off the air, btw.
Insert sarcasm here: Let's invalidate the entire constitution!!! Wyoming has too much say in National Politics!!
In the immortal words of Bugs Bunny, "what a maroon."
Yes, at one level it's laughable. At another, very sobering: There are people out there who would destroy our Constitution, our country, our freedoms and our entire way of life for the sake of their own power.
I agree! Let Cindy Be Cindy!
I wish I had the money to buy air time on the SOTU speech.
My ad would go like this:
Open on an exterior shot of my pretty poor, very multicultural neighborhood.
DISSOLVE to me sitting here. I turn to the camera.
"Hello, I'm DW. I'm talking here from a part of my city where few liberals are ever found, but where this Republican LIVES. I also work in one of the nation's most liberal cities, in a social services job funded by private institutions and some small government funding. Something like 90% of our funds come from evil rich people.
"I mention this to point out that I live with liberal hypocrisy every single day of my life. I hear the talk about compassion, yet I don't see them coming around here. I hear the talk about evil rich people, yet I see the donated money of evil rich people feeding the poor and caring for the sick. Mostly, though, I feel the hatred towards the President and his agenda.
"There have been screams, shouts, cries and whines from liberals that our country is all over, and they want out.
"My message to those people:
"Give up.
"Throw in the towel.
"You lost.
"Revel in despair.
"I say this because I hear your words, see your lack of action, and realize you are the most full of $#^@ people I have encountered in my 40 years on Earth. All you do IS complain, so why not turn over a new leaf? I'd say commit yourselves to the poor, but you'd prefer to suck off the welfare teat and go on the internet all day and bitch than actually get off your asses and get jobs, even jobs with huge pay cuts like I willingly took to live up to my personal beliefs.
"So I won't suggest walking the talk, because you are incapable of that. Or else you'd be doing it.
"My suggested course of action?
"Live up to just ONE of your promises...and leave."
Now remember, *I* wasn't the one to first suggest you go, YOU said you should. And I'm just here to assure you that you made the right choice. You're right, the religious right is taking over. I'm an agnostic and have never had one problem from Christians, but that's just me. Also, Bush is a Fascist, even though you couldn't be reading this if he were. And yes, he's wiretapping innocent Americans...except, as the ACLU would tell you, your beloved ACLU, ALL people who are arrested are innocent, until PROVEN guilty, right? Did you forget that? Seems like you have.
"But you folks seem to have forgotten a lot of things. Like your own promises, endlessly repeated like a brat constantly threatening to run away if he doesn't get that new toy or that ice cream. The rest of us are sick of hearing it, but unlike you we're not lashing out, we're being constructive. I am, at least."
(pointing)
"There's the border. You can find it by either following the line of people who've just illegally entered, or the much more massive line of your fellows leaving Bush's Nazi regime, though his is the first such dictatorship that LETS people leave. But I'm sure you and your fellow migrants will have lots of time to work out the inconsistencies in your philosophy. You're all so much smarter than us fools who are being left behind to take care of those who love this country.
"It was nice talking to you, a lot nicer than having to listen to you. Have a good trip, but please, spare us another long-winded attack on the country so many of us love. You'll need that hot air to protest in the wonderful South American "democracy" where there will be so much money for social services, or the Middle East, China, or India where the homosexuals among you will have SO many more civil rights than they have here, or, alternately, in Canada, where you'll need all that hot air to stay warm.
"Whatever your choice, good luck living up to your own endlessly repeated promises. Don't say goodbye. Just live up to your own words just this once and get the **** out.
"Thank you and good night."
Oh gosh. Glad I wasn't drinking coffee!
Those commies are in lockdown over there. I'm guessing things are even wilder now than last night.
I love it. Those losers just can't deal with being in the minority.
Yeah, I liked that "moral victory" thread, too!
DU-- the gift that keeps on giving!
Great, great ad!
I don't think many of them ever watched Mr. Robinson's show..."it's a lovely day in the neighborhood!"
By the way, in response to #8 of the script by the DUers where he says "and everyone thinks the answer to everything is more of Jesus" well, I DO and HE IS! THAT IS the TRUE MEANING OF IS, by the way...
We are going to win this one if we keep up the pressure! We have turned the tide, and the GOP is losing.
Bump to read later, but honestly. Does Benburch read what he writes? This is almost as funny as the yahoo calling for God to bless the DU server so it doesn't slow down.
I think the new name for DU is Meaningless Gestures 'R Us!
Yes, there are all sorts of telltale nuggets buried in these DU posts. And, I'm with you 200% on what the world needs more of! :-)
Dear Grumpygreg,
We ARE your overlords!
Someone set you up the dim!

Fetish night at the Senate...
Tonight we saw a few democrats shed their suits, ties, and skirts for ball gags and leather zipper masks.
Ahhh yes Senator, to face your worst fears and lose your relationships across the isle (along with money for that Muskrat Museum and the glittered Disco Bridge you've been planning) can be worse than anything you've seen on Fear Factor or it's sister show Desperate Housewives (which, out of the two, I've only puked watching the later).
Once your tenure is done and your republican handlers have unlatched your fur lined leather dog collars you will be free to go back to your state and cut the ribbon to the Senator Gimp Memorial Hotdog Cart. But know this, you will not go home to a school being named after you, because no school in their right minds would change their name to "Maria Cantwell Elementary, Home of the Fighting Weasels".
Good luck in the private sector in the years to come. I hope you lost weight when you aborted your integrity because that's the last abortion we'll see for a long time.

How about this?
For the rest of this WEEK we call these suckers, day in and day out and don't stop until next Monday.
Think they'll get the friggin hint about how po'd their base is?
We call like we were calling this last week and don't stop.
Call each and every one of them, tell them how disappointed and angry you are over the cloture vote. How you will give no money.
If we do this we may get our point across.
But we need to have a concerted effort. Maybe some of those other sites that had the emails and phone #'s would give space for the next week.

So how many of us have gotten "the lecture" in the past 24 hrs?
Last night, I was glued to GD Alito like everyone else. My partner had already gone to bed and I was listening to Mike Malloy and surfing DU, when I heard her call from the bedroom, "Honey, I'm worried about you." "Uh-oh", I thought, "Here we go". She hadn't given me "the lecture" in months.
I walked into the bedroom and she started telling me how all this political stuff "just sort of seeps out of you." To my knowledge, I hadn't yelled or cried or kvetched or anything. Apparently this kind of disappointment and hushed rage acts like a sort of film that gets into your pores and changes you from the inside out. Her demand was simple. "You must find some good news tomorrow. Anything. Fluffy kittens saved from doom, penguins playing bingo, SOMETHING GOOD ON DU.
Well, any thoughts?

"Ok, this has got to stop!" when my 5 year old and 3 year old decided to play "Democrats" yesterday. This was after chanting at C-Span "No on cloture, yes filibuster!"
