There are far too many songs about pedophilia. It's downright creepy.

I saw sparks fly, from the corner of my eye
And when I turned, it was love at first sight
I said please excuse me, I didn't catch your name
Oh it'd be a shame not to see you again
And just when I thought she was comin' to my door
She whispered sweet and brought me to the floor, she said
I'm only seventeen, but I'll show you love like you've never seen
She's only seventeen, daddy says she's too young, but she's old enough for me
Come to my place, we can talk it over, oh everything going down in your head
She said take it easy, I need some time, time to work it out, to make you mine
And just when I thought she was comin' to my door
She whispered sweet and brought me to the floor, she said
I'm only seventeen, you ain't seen love, ain't seen nothing like me
She's only seventeen, seventeen

(Solo)

Such a bad girl, loves to work me overtime
Feels good (ha), dancin' close to the borderline
She's a magic mountain, she's a leather glove
Oh she's my soul, it must be love
She's only seventeen, still she gives me love, like I've never seen
She's only seventeen, daddy says she's too young, but she's old enough for me
She's everything I need, daddy says she's too young
But she's old enough, old enough for me

I think I'm going to have to make up a graphic for people who don't answer direct questions...something about them being too dumb to understand them. :-)

LOL! Last night I was growling and yelling at the computer "Are you STUPID?!" Hubby told me to shut it down. LOL

Thanks for the link. I'm skeptical, but very interested.

One of our talented photoshoppers needs to do up a William Rivers Pitt Greatest Love Songs CD cover, listing all of these paeans to...er, young love.

I'm not sure 17 is pedophilia...but Winger? That's just wrong.

I don't know the legal definition, either. I always just lump anything under the legal age as pedophilia. Jailbait, statutory rape, whatever.

Winger was wrong on soooo many levels.

What I hate (but still laugh at) is when you make it painfully clear that you understand their position and they respond by saying, "What part of my position do you not understand" or some such. Central Scrutiniser was doing both of those to me in a thread about "The Book of Daniel." I kept asking him to show me where the Founders said that citizens couldn't contact a business and offer an opinion on its product mix, and he kept responding with "fundie Taliban" rhetoric. He never did explain where the Christians got the Hypnotoad to control the minds of NBC executives.

There are far too many songs about pedophilia. It's downright creepy.

There are many songs about inappropriate relationships. "Pedophilia" is a word that has a meaning. It means sexual attraction to pre-pubescent children.

I don't think any of these songs, nor whatever Mr. Sock Puppet may have been up to can be rightly called "pedophilia." And 17 is above the age of consent in most states. Let's not fling accusations that are not grounded in truth.

A teacher having a relationship with a student is definitely not ethical and may be illegal. But unless one is raiding the elementary school, it's not pedophilia.

No problem. I figured it would be easier to start verifying / debunking this if we had the link to the original posting in this thread.

I love that. State the facts over and over and they never respond to that, just their perception of it. I lack patience sometimes so I don't belong here on those days. LOL

Makes you wonder if english is their first language. ;)

Not to put words in PJ's mouth, but...

We already have a kewpie doll winner in that thread where they're throwing Sheehan under the bus:

the sanctions WOULD NOT have killed Iraqi's if Saddam would have used the money he was getting, for the oil he was "alloted" to sell, to feed and take care of his people as opposed to using it to his for his own personal wealth and that of his minions. Those deaths lie squarely at the feet of that regime not Clinton IMO.

Of course, I wonder if DUmmie eve_was_framed ever considers that all the deaths during the war are Saddam's fault as well, or if hatred of Our Glorious Emperoro, Chimpus Khan rneders her unable to process that calculation.

Maybe that would be a good graphic angle...just post an announcement for English as a Second Language classes in their area. :-)

Is there any way that we can get them to ring a bell as they walk and say "Unclean. Unclean." like lepers did in the Middle Ages? I'm just trying to be helpful, here.

I'll be ringing the bell for them in my upcoming DUmmie FUnnies AUDIO Podcasts. (Gotta do some homework on sound editing tonight.)

p.s. Did you send that essay about Ben Franklin's greatest invention to any publications? That was a GREAT essay. Everybody should read it. I would recommend you snail mail it to managing editors of newspapers. That's the BEST way to get it published.

There are several "young love" songs that P3 could probably sing. I'd love to have one of our graphic artists do up a mock Pitt love songs album cover. We can all nominate a few song titles.

That would be funny but some sensitive sort will cry foul and claim "personal attack".Most debates are caused by a comprehension problem.
