I joined in early December and I can't figure what a ringer is.
Yup, I don't think most of them grasp basic math. They are the same sort that think a big tax return check is something to be proud of.
Maybe they figure they can tax their way into more productivity ;)
I think that's us... Someone over there thought that we were cheating, until it was pointed out, that you can't bring points to a team, everything is new production.
We're on the verge of cracking 200,000 points per week, and about a week away from the "million a month" club, and hitting our first million.
All in all, not a bad month's work.
This point last month, we were about 1700, had 120,000 points, or something like that.
By this point next month, we should be sitting at 2 million, and around 250th
I guess I'll have to do the nasty and kick it a bit.
The utilities can be downloaded from here:
http://home.comcast.net/~wxdude2/rph/fah.html
While Howell was a well-known supporter, developer, and moderator for FAH, he was not officially part of their team, so his software is not officially supported. Howell died recently, and FAH director Vijay Pande posted his regrets at the loss of a "great friend".
I discovered the utilities after running into a FAH bug while running the program on an old RedHat 9 box. The FAH program finished its work units, but would not upload the first two sets of results (wuresults_01.dat and wuresults_02.dat in the "work" directory) to Stanford. Starting the FAH502-Linux.exe program with the "-send all" switch failed, apparently because the results were not recorded properly in the queue file, possibly due to a glibc conbflict. Howell's qfix program rewrote the queue file and "-send all" worked! Five days worth of computing, saved!
In the unlikely event that you run into the same problem, you first have to tell the FAH program to delete the work units' incorrect queue info, e.g.
./FAH502-Linux.exe -delete 3
./FAH502-Linux.exe -delete 2
./FAH502-Linux.exe -delete 1
This does not delete the work unit results. Then run qfix, then
./FAH502-Linux.exe -send all -verbosity 9
This above info IS in the FAH forums, though it is not particularly easy to find.
Since Howell is now deceased, I don't know if his programs will be maintained or updated.
Happy folding.
I like diamond ringers.
Did they notice that we have more members that have contributed over 1,000 points (132) than they have total teams (108)?
If DU is so prescient, why did it take them to notice Folding@Home here on FR before they started a team? Now they openly beg DailyKus to join them, only to beat the FReepers.
Losers.
Thanks for the info. I had seen a reference to Howell's work but had never tracked it down.
Saving a WU and 5 days of electricity is always a good thing!
Today's output at 32,490 is outstanding and is close to our highest day total! We continue to grow and grow.WELCOME new members AgentCzar, Pikus, MnJohnnie, and Jess35.
Fold on!
Pinging to new thread for the next week.

Thanks everyone.
Off to bed - it's raining in Texas!
Got my second machine working - wife had enabled redundant firewall that was blocking. For the Gipper...
I noticed a remarkable jump in team point production, what happened?
Well, we are experiencing continual growth from new folders, and many of them are throwing two and three machines into the fray.
Many of us have been experimenting to keep our systems folding. I lost a lot of production when systems would get held up on a login in screen. Using the GUI version of F@H no folding occurs before login. I switched to a console version and installed it as a service so that it starts folding as soon as Winders starts up.
So we have many new folders and CPUs, smarter folding by old folders, and a little bump from Klutz_Dohanger, who added over a hundred systems to the pie.
Umm ... the real secret is in the last line of my post.
Our buddy Klutz added over a hundred systems to the fight last week, and they all finally finished their first WU.
My little systems will not bump this chart by much, except as measured in years.
I should have read that last bit closer, sorry
Nice to have and see leaders with great attitudes ... a tip of this guys hat to you.
Broke down and bought a new laptop for work - the IBM T23 was really straining with some new software. Brought it on line a couple of hours ago- so now there are 3 CPUs crunching here.
Kultz - you bring out the best in "For The Gipper." Just WOW!
