The statement put out by Robertson today is similar to the guy who uses the "N" word on a regular basis and when he gets called a racist he says "No I'm not, I've got a lot of black friends"

Rappers credo???

PS: Robertson is indeed an idiot.

What an utter load of crap this is. As usual with this clown, he claims that the oeft wing took his comments "out of context" to discredit him. No Pat, your pretty good at doing that yourself. And it's total BS to say you were "taken out of context" (a favorite excuse of Robertson's when he makes these types of statements)

I've defended Robertson before, but it's past time for the man to learn from his mistakes.

He is in a position where people look up to him and where his enemies look for comments of his they can use against him, and against us.

Robertson needs to pray to God for restraint and discernment when he speaks.

I think it's funny that in his "apology" he still defends what he said, while calling Sharon a "good friend". This guy's a better double-talker than Slick Willie. At least he ain't gettin BJs on the side (though I could be wrong).

I know no one wants to hear this, but, the possibility remains that he could be right! I'm not saying he is or that he should have even said this, but, it's a possibility.

He's not right. He's totally wrong on this. Sharon's health and the bad way he took care of his body is what caused this. His negligence of his own health. Nothing else. Who knows how many times Sharon must have been warned by his physicians to lose weight. Pat Robertson is full of you know what! He is NOT God's messenger and has no right to say that is the reason he is in a coma.

Well, the Bible does clearly warn not to divide the land. Joshua, warrior that he was, disobeyed and let a few enclaves of natives in ancient Israel stay put because they basically promised not to make trouble. Very interesting to see where those enclaves lie on a present-day map.

So I don't see a thing wrong with Robertson pointing out the dangers of dividing Israel. There WILL always be dire consequences for doing it. I guess the salient point here is that there's certainly no way to know whether Sharon was smitten for his role in land division, and in any event, Robertson exercised way poor timing with his comments.

BTW, for those who think something written a few thousand years ago couldn't posssibly be relevant or binding today: Twas less than the blink of an eye for Almighty God. Doesn't matter if you believe it or not; it is what it is.

I agree with you. THough I suspect you and I will catch much flack for saying so.

No one can know the tools with which God has decided to use against even Kind David, Moses, Job, Joshua, etc. For instance. Moses was not allowed to pass into the Promised land for a reason.

At that time Israel, Rome and Egypt were the entire world. Now things are different they are no longer the entire world. That is not relevant today.

Sharon was personally a very likeable person.

NOTE to Pat Robertson: First, ditch the past tense. PM Sharon is not dead yet. Second, I do like and admire Ariel Sharon very much, but I don't like you Mr. Robertson. So STFU. Just once, I would like to see you exercise restraint and not try to gin up increased contributions off the tragedy of others.

Pat Robertson has reached the point where he should be thanked for the many contributions he's made to strengthening Christian spirituality in this country -- and then politely but firmly wheeled off the TV stage for good.

He should also be told quietly that if he says one more word publicly some hefty guys from northern New Jersey will visit him at 3:00 in the morning.

Here's a great idea: let's see how long we can keep this on the front page! It's really gonna help our cause (if our cause is making all Republicans look like buffoons). Robertson doesn't care what we say, he has his faithful followers and he sees criticism like this as a badge of honor.

The statement put out by Robertson today is similar to the guy who uses the "N" word on a regular basis and when he gets called a racist he says "No I'm not, I've got a lot of black friends". Pathetic.

The tsunami of vitriol against Pat Robertson goes on as though he was a murderous thug who hasn't contributed an iota of good or charity to America or the world.

The response has been totally disproprtionate to the "offense."

Why doesn't FR run a poll:

"Should Pat Robertson be drawn and quartered, OR hung?"

oh THAT makes sense. no doubt the imaginary god was too busy to strike down arafat, hitler, stalin, saddam and others in their prime, but it now has plenty of time to dispatch sharon henceforth.

the original poster has it right. this is a load of crap, robertson was not misquoted or otherwise taken out of context, he is simply an idiot and most deserving of the wrath he claims to know something about.

I have to agree. While it all may seem "harsh", we never know if it could be correct. The only thing I can honestly say against Robertson is that it is not the time to openly bring it up. He can certainly think it, but best not to state things so publicly. And ironically, let's bring that full circle by saying Robertson likewise never really knows what God would do or not, so probably best from that perspective to keep it to yourself, too!

I don't think he really wished any harm upon Sharon; just thinks he's telling it like it is.

My biggest argument against the "God doesn't want you to divide Israel" belief is - why hasn't He punished directly those responsible in the past for giving up pieces of it (so the Moslems can "get along" w/them)?

People look up to him? Who are those people? His children?

I don't think anybody else does. I wish he'd go away.

Robertson should know God doesn't work that way. He's the reason liberals mock the religious people of the country.
