Only the police and the military need handguns! All progressives understand this.
We will be much safer when ordinary citizens are disarmed.
Then, we can simply rely on well-trained professionals to protect us.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one. - Thomas Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria, Criminologist 1764.

Animals can be driven crazy by placing too many in too small a pen.
Homo sapiens is the only animal that voluntarily does this to himself.

We saw with Greer how a precedent was made to allow murder to be carried out from the bench, with corrupt judges who want to hide the truth ordering hits from behind their robes, not wanting Schiavo to heal and testify on her own behalf against the murderous system with deep conflicts of interest.
Civilian courts used to instigate denunciation and civil wars and then enacting death penalties avoiding the usage of juries in crime condemnation cases.
They do it for "Domestic violence" and recently Massachussets is proposing jailing people in contempt of court for 3 years who have no liability insurance for owning "dangerous guns", taking the gun lawsuits to the individuals.
Thus a criminal stealing your gun and shooting at you may now be able to sue you and get you in jail for not having liability insurance for the damages he causes. Men have to pay child support and medicals to "women" who who do the damage, abusing children, put daughters on the pill for prostitution, and men having no control must pay the bills for these abuses. Medical malpractice law I also targetting and trapping doctors.
It's complete lawyer and "bureaucrat rights" madness with judges/lawyers at the bench in obvious conflict of interest carrying out this legal Warsaw Ghetto without impunity. You damn right, that they're afraid of us having guns, coz the spigot is going to shut.

I don't think that outlawing gun ownership by mandating prohibitive insurance will stand up to any constitutional test. If it does, we're screwed.

Gun control laws increase the power of government and the criminal element over the average citizen and serve no other purpose.

Governor, had I foreseen the use those people designed to make of their victory, there would have been no surrender at Appomattox Courthouse; no, sir, not by me. Had I foreseen these results of subjugation, I would have preferred to die at Appomattox with my brave men, my sword in this right hand.

Mayor Bloomberg lamented that "Sadly, we live in a world with too many guns." Thanks for the ping, Travis.
Those statist thugs like Bloomberg aren't "anti-gun". Rather they are "anti Rights".
They have no problem with guns, just so long as they are controlled by the goosestepping bullies that do the bidding of fools like Bloomberg.
They want a nation where an elite few (consisting of themselves, of course) have total control over the peasants.
