Wow! I would have paid cash to be there when lib thinking smacked up against cold reality! Your Russian friend should go on a public high school speaking tour to espouse the American system. My wife used to teach 5th grade and she once had a student's mom speak to the class about her Cuban childhood and fleeing from Castro. The kids were on the edge of their seats and really got a great deal out of it.

I'm with you. That is good!
"I had a wonderful thanksgiving and all the relatives at the table were Republicans! Yahoo - we talked politics and slammed the main stream media until we got past the dessert and then started in on how the original pilgrims threw out the first agreement (which Rush went over last week) on how everyone gave to the general property fund and Gov'r Bradford wrote how the men weren't driven to prosper without the right incentive of self-ownership. So, our early pilgrim forefathers tried and rejected socialism and we need to remind Hillary and her ilk that it DOESN'T work!"
Lucky! Can I come to dinner next year? I could bring my "Bush was Right" CD.
LOL
Most interesting to me are her stories about the quality of life improvements that are going on in Russia today. She says it brought tears of happiness to her eyes when she saw her first realtor showing a small plot of land to a young couple in the countryside. Now it's a common sight.
"who's going to push my wheelchair if the illegals are deported?"
Do they live in Del Boca Vista?
"Not long after the Berlin Wall fell I saw a report on TV (20/20 or some such show) where the cameras followed around a young former East German couple as they explored the bounty of the west for the first time. They experienced sensory overload when they walked into a simple grocery store that you and I would take for granted. They realized they had been living witnin a huge lie their whole lives."
Reminds me of the stories you tell about your new to America Cuban friends.
Tatyana staggered around like she was drunk for about two weeks. Even with the vast improvements in Russia it doesn't compare to what she sees here. My wife got her a tour of the University hospital in Ann Arbor. That rocked her back on her heels pretty good.
If Tatyana had any family still living she probably would have stayed in Russia but coming here was her parents dream for her. My family and my inlaws have "adopted" her and she's become friends with some of the people here in town.
This sort of thing ALMOST makes me wish I had a moonbat in the family, just to argue with. I love pointing out all the propaganda of my History teacher, but somehow I imagine its not the same.
Best laugh I've had all day, Clemenza! Your Dad must be a character!
No mention of politics or illegal aliens at my house on Thanksgiving, just some minor bickering between my three big kid sons as to who had the biggest......car and the biggest appetite. :^)
How "tolerant" of you. Funny how the libs demand everyone extend them tolerance, yet they refuse to return the favor.
Hypocrisy runs deep on DU.
