I said "Thanks! Have a nice day." to her [the sales clerk], only to receive a "God Bless You!" in return.

She should have thrown garlic at him.

I got off lite... just had to remind my father that Bush didn't cut the FEMA budget. In fact, I rememded him that Bush had never veto'd ANY bill, much less a spending bill.

So much for that Dem talking point.

My Thanksgivings always involve interactions with moonbat in-laws and relatives. Mercifully this year they were silent for some reason.

Then 3-4 lines of the prayer were for the "liberals" (me & my family) that our souls might be opened up and the Holy Spirit poured in so that we might know the errors of our ways. In addition, it was requested that God not condemn us to hell immediately, but allow us more time on earth to change our ways.

Just when I thought I might walk out, the prayer turned to the NFL (for the Cowboys, of course) and then began once again on "those who have abandoned what they were taught about God's love" (also my family - pagans).

I wonder if the prayer was really like that or if it was what he heard instead. If it was really like that then I'd say it was out of line.

I actually make it a policy to generally not discuss politics - at the workplace especially, but also with friends and relatives where I know it will become contentious. They know it too, and abide by the same rule with me. Maybe some will consider it "not courageous," but I'd rather just enjoy a holiday meal, a casual phone call, etc. without the bickering. I save my commentary for you fine folks. :)

Not this Thanksgiving but last, my way liberal sister from Boulder, got drunk and was yelling in my back yard how she "luvs abortions". I kid you not. It was quite bizzare and embarrassing. I'm sure all my neighbors heard. Also she said something about how Carter was one of our Best Presidents. Again, not exaggerating.

I luv her dearly, but crimmony, she is a major moonbat.

"Just when I thought I might walk out,"

... I realized that we liberals haven't the nuts to act upon supposed convictions and actually do it...

The liberals in my family and the conservatives all agreed before hand to agree to disagree this Thanksgiving and focus on the blessings of good health. In the past three years, our family has suffered through 2 heart attacks to my dad and childhood melanoma to my daughter and a premature birth to a nephew. We all agreed that allowing politics to spoil a day where no one was hospitalized would be a crime.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Pre-Thanksgiving, I got into an email battle with my brother-in-law. He sent me the petition for clemency for quadruple murderer and Crips founder Stanley 'Tookie' Williams. He was swayed by viewing the propaganda pic 'Redemption' starring Jaimie Foxx. We were able to widely avoid the topic on Thanksgiving when I visited his home.

My Democrat father went into the whole Bush lied to get us into the war thing and the discussion grew a little heated the day after Thanksgiving. We finally ended the discussion agreeing on one thing and that is that Bush is misusing the National Guard who should be kept here, where they belong, guarding our borders.

Lucky to have an pretty much all-conservative family. ARgh, I can't imagine having to deal with one of those wackos at Thanksgiving and Christmas every year.

Gosh. It's good to be a conservative. I had a great Thanksgiving! And I can't wait for Christmas. How can people be so unhappy on days that celebrate happiness, family, etc. Liberals are walking barrels of misery, I guess.

I found a topic my liberal dad and I both agreed on. We are both against intelligent design being forced into the science curriculum in schools. A refuge that, where we could finally agree on something. Well that and the local sports teams, of course.

only problem i had was my thug mexican wannabe cousin (irish-german heritage, looks really irish with red hair and pale skin) who kept trying to tell me how he liked that bush was so conservative.
i believe i made a post before thanksgiving that rather than having the conservative/ liberal debate at my house, we have the conservative/ ultra-conservative debates, with one moderate that is usually smart enough to keep her mouth shut.

I had a wonderful thanksgiving and all the relatives at the table were Republicans! Yahoo - we talked politics and slammed the main stream media until we got past the dessert and then started in on how the original pilgrims threw out the first agreement (which Rush went over last week) on how everyone gave to the general property fund and Gov'r Bradford wrote how the men weren't driven to prosper without the right incentive of self-ownership. So, our early pilgrim forefathers tried and rejected socialism and we need to remind Hillary and her ilk that it DOESN'T work!

Like most personal anecdotes on DU, this is one is mostly, if not completely, fiction.
