One reason to watch the Mapes interview on Good Morning America tomorrow is this laughable
STATEMENT she made to Brian Ross:
Mapes says she is continuing to investigate the source of the controversial documents whose authenticity was seriously questioned by the CBS panel. She tells Ross that she had no journalistic obligation to prove the authenticity of the documents before including them in the "60 Minutes II" report. "I don't think that's the standard," she said.
Um...yeah, Mary. Proving the authenticity of documents upon which you based your report is totally unnecessary...at least at SeeBS News.

THEY say she's a crackpot. And yet SeeBS employed her as a senior producer.

"She claims that faxing or photocopying a document that does not have proportional spacing or superscripts can make those things appear to be present. I would like to see her take any authentic 1970's document and produce those changes."
No freepin' way. This lady is in serious need of an intervention and long-term medical care someplace where the "nice young men in their clean white coats" will take good care of her.
I think I'll go into work tomorrow, dig some blank '70s typing paper and carbon paper out of the files, and type up a memo (on the old IBM Selectric) clearing the President on the Guard charges. The paper and the carbon sheet ink will be chemically testable to be of the appropriate age. Of course, a real document expert could probably prove that the Texas ANG didn't use that brand of paper, or perhaps that they used blue carbon sets instead of black.
But hey, it's not the authenticity of the documents- it's the seriousness of the charge.

But the real chick flick item without equal: Mapes also is abandoned by the man she loved (guess who!). " The Mapes of Rather " ?

I take it the rational comments are in "red-state" ink instead of the normal "Bolshevik red" ink.

Mapes and Rather are bravely telling the truth, while the evil Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, other networks, and eventually CBS itself, are not. . . . "FEA," as Dan would say.

I take it the rational comments are in "red-state" ink instead of the normal "Bolshevik red" ink. Well, one of the reviews was in Bolshevik Red. Think of the other two RATIONAL reviews as being in Red State Red.

I wish the first Rational Reviewer (RR for short) hadn't spelt LIAR as LAIR throughout.

She claims that Buckhead, the lawyer who nailed the documents as fakes, posted before the show was even off the air. Not true. You're going to be getting some more notice in the days to come, Buckhead.

Mary Mapes gets a book contract and you don't.
This is proof positive that life isn't fair.
As my Daddy used to say, "Life isn't supposed to be fair, that would be too easy".
I'll bet there are more "eyeballs" reading the DUFU than will ever open the covers of "Truth and Duty"

I'm somewhat surprised the DUmmies aren't drinking the kool-aid on this one. Mapes, what does it say to you that even Democrat Underground thinks you're a partisan loon?

It is absolutely ridiculous that Good Morning America would even have her on. I realize that the book bashes CBS as well as trying to convince one Mary Mapes that "...those documents are in fact original."
Message to Mary Mapes, and ABC, find a good therapist and take some valium. It worked wonders for Stephenopolous.

Mary Mapes gets a book contract and you don't. The only way that St. Martin's Press could ever make a profit from the Mapes fiction book is to re-issue it with my DUFU commentary in the [brackets] to contrast with her Bolshevik Red.
