What is the point of reliving all this BS?? There are way to many people at the DUmp who need to get a life....
PJ...I've been using a Dell laptop for sometime now...The only problems I've had so far are not having a big enough HD not enough RAM(my fault for not getting a better machine) and spilling a coke in it(the space bar is a bit sticky)...You'll find good and bad on almost any puter you get....So just get what you can afford and makes you happy!!!

PJ - as a long-time computer user, I think you made the right decision to have a custom computer made. Miguel just told me he could build me a Pentium 4, 160 HD, with 516 RAM plus DVD player and CDRW for $650. How does that sound. I didn't want him to include a monitor since I already have one and would rather bargain shop for a Flat Screen monitor down the road. How does that price sound?

How about 190 Gig HD? It would be a Pentium 4. 516 RAM. That should be sufficient for what I want which would be to Podcast.

Oops! I meant 160 GIG HD. Not 190. BTW, I could always add on an external HD for even more memory.

Also I notice that the vendors at the Computer Show here in Ft. Lauderdale often drastically drop their prices on last day of the show. With the hurricane messing up schedules, not sure when the next one is.

It sounds good. I have had 3 custom computers, and other various "name brand" computers over the years, and I usually get 1-2 years out of a name brand computer, as opposed to 5-6 years out of a custom built one.
I think that sounds like a fair price.

So when do we start to reap the profits of this huge oil takeover? :-)

512 of RAM is barely adequate for what I do here at school...Try to get a gig of RAM

Wouldn't 512 RAM be enough for Podcasting? Remember, I won't be using my computer for hurricane forecasting.

"Kerry was a 2/3 favorite at the time due to the reports of early exit polls. Within a half hour of our bet, that went even higher, to 1/2."
Huh?
By the way, how is your book coming along PJ?
