Considering the police took the effort to mount a major undercover raid, I would believe the polcie over the drug enabling rave sponsors.
I don't know about Utah, but I can imagine. Down here, West of Austin at some friends I used to party at, the sound would reverberate up and down the canyons, and the house was tucked down at the end of a quiet dirt road, cops would look all night, never find it.

And the Rave party "security guards" were all too willing to $upply the 15 year old teenagers. Who cares if they over dose or whatever (sarc). So much for legalities

Anyway, having said that, if it was helicopters and soldiers in cammo, it wasn't the police raiding this 'rave'.
Yeah, IF it went down this way. I would be willing to bet some information was left out or purposefully misstated.

Some things about Utah:
Most of Utah is highly conservative, outside of Salt Lake. Salt Lake is...different.
Young people who are not Mormon or who are raised by parents who are not religiously observant, tend to do things that kids in other areas with similar attitudes or backgrounds wouldn't do. They are a bit more radical to prove they are not "goodie-goodies" and thus the same as the observant LDS kids.
There is a real problem with Meth in this state.
Running away is not a tickable offense in Utah.
Smoking between the ages of 18 and 21 is.
Utah has a higher divorce rate than the national average.
All the above lead to some interesting effects...especially if you are raising a non LDS teenager who has problems...
and if you kept your 17 year old daughter away from such a party you wouldn't have to worry now would you?
My concern is that we can't tell the police from the military. At least Hitler had the SS wear black.
Now that I think about it, we should start feeding X to the muslims/terrorists around the world and have them read the Bible...
So let me get this straight, the national guard busts a bunch of "ravers" but meanwhile we have terrorists and illegals streaming across the border like there is no tomorrow? Good to know our priorities are straight!
We need to stop those damn kids from having any more fun!! Those ravers are dangerous, with their listening to music and dancing...better keep an eye on them! ;)

CLEARLY, the organizers of this event didn't make it to class the day "Keeping Rave Party A Secret" was taught.
It was all outdoors, in a valley surrounded by huge mountains. They had an amazing light show flashing on to a mountain behind the site, the sound was booming, the crowd was about 1500 people thick and everything just seemed too good to be true really.
It would've been funny if every single raver was packing heat.
Not national guard. State police and local police. People from the Sherrif's dept. probably. Special units were involved, such as swat teams and undercover agents. If there were National Guardsmen there, I can tell you the Salt Lake Trib would have been screaming about it. They lean in the same direction that Mayor Rocky Anderson does, and it would have hit the AP.
What is a "rave" and why would any conservative want to be associated with one?
Also as a side note, I am a house music producer so I am involved with this scene and I also just so happend to be conservative- "raves" as they are traditionally known are long gone,this was simply a concert. Go bust ANY concert and you will find drugs and underage drinking.
This is just simply a waste of taxpayer funds. This is like when the feds went after the bong makers, yeah that will clean up the streets, get rid of those evil bongs! ha. Laughable.

When the perps keep growing in numbers and became more deranged and dangerous shooting with assault rifles, thats when.

If you see nothing wrong with armed thugs enforcing the will of the state on people conducting their private business and harming no one, then this nation has fallen farther than I thought. The state has taken it upon itself to become the injured party and when it can't find obvious transgressions it uses spies and informants to find them.
These are the tactics of a police state, which I strongly suspect you are a member of given your vociferous defense of their action. Anyone who is prepared to beat, jail and maybe kill another person for using drugs is mentally ill.
