She does need help. I can not imagine her pain, but I have a feeling that in a year or so, when she looks back on what she has said and done, and how people took advantage of her in her grief, that she will have some real problems coping with what she has done.
Ma Sheenan is melting down, which has been clear to many people here on FR and elsewhere.
Her new friends are goading her, clearly. As her stress increases, so does the extremism (and incoherence) of her language, as well as her desperation.
What she needs most right now is loving people around her to talk her down from this very public breakdown. Too bad she is in bed with some rough customers.
I hope she likes her new friends.
BTTT
Heh...my mistake, I misintepreted it...you didn't SEEM like the kind of poster who would say something like that to the other fellow...
My humble apologies.
No problem..now that I read my own post I can see how you thought that I on him....thats what I get for posting that early in the morning
Cindy seems a little confused about how the government works, eh?
Cindy is bumper to bumper confused.
Since Cindy said that she had "the whole month of August off", I sent an email to the newspaper editor in her hometown asking him what kind of job she has and the location of her other children. Think I have a chance of getting a reply?
bump
That's a great description of her situation. She started out relatively quiet, and now she's swearing and being a public nuisance. The way she keeps turning up the heat, within a week I fear she'll be doing something really weird, like stripping or something.
I actually had a letter in my will when I was on AD that was to be made available if anyone in my family pulled a stunt like this. With due respect to her greiving, I have to ask the question as to whether her son would have wanted her to act and speak this way. Does SHE have permission to use her son's name in this manner?
I would encourage ANY servicemember, active or reserves, to make their personal feelings known clearly so that their memory can be honored as they feel is appropriate. Had he disagreed with the war, and had made his opinions known clearly, then she would have much greater standing. But my experience is that very few of our AD troops would condone such actions by their family.
I predict eventual suicide for this sad human being. The combination of delusional megalomania, insanity and being dumped by the "progressives" after they are done exploiting her, will be too much.
I imagine you will get a myriad of responses to your post, some less polite than others if the norm holds true.
My opinion as a veteran is that this is a war that needs to be fought. There are in fact dangerous people in this world and Saddam Hussein was one of them. As relates to terrorism, he was a known and proud sponsor of multiple terrorist organizations. That is not to say he had direct ties to Al Qaeda - they are not the only terrorists who seek kill Americans and our allies.
I think that rescuing millions of people from the rule of a tyrant and removing the threats to liberty and freedom that he posed is a worthwhile endeavor.
If you look through history you will find few true rebellions where an indiginous population was able to remove a tyrant and win their freedom. Most civil wars result in one tyrant replacing the one deposed, or in genocide if the despot retains power.
America was remote from England - so using our story as a benchmark is not an apples-to-apples comparison. But if you look at our record including Korea, WWII, WWI, and even in Vietnam what you will see, if looking through my eyes, is a country that is reluctant to go to war. However, you will also see a country that is not endeavoring to create a colonial empire. Our 2 greatest foes of the 20th century are now leading industrial nations with free markets and free elections. This is the legacy that we leave - we fight despotic and tyrannical governments - we do not seek to destroy civilizations. Quite the contrary - after we win we have a record of restoring freedom and creating opportunities for propserity.
Saddam Hussein posed a threat ot just to his region, but to the world. He was a tyrant at home, and a terrorist abroad. He was given years to comply with a cease fire agreement, but with the help of corrupt officials at the United Nations he continued to generate wealth and retained his military presence. Peaceful solutions were offered, and he refused to take the deals. In his wake women are now voting and going to school - and they can walk the streets without fear of the sons of evil taking them to a rape room.
As for the terrorists of this world - if you believe the reports they are flocking to meet our military head on - to which I say let them come. It is better for us to face them with an organized force in a land where we currently have some measure of freedom of action to hunt them than to sit back at home, wait for them to come to us and kill us on our own soil, and then spend years trying to get their host-terrorist masters to turn them over for a trial at the Hague.
She is cracking up, as I have said on FR from close to the beginning of this scene. The thing is that those closest to her seem to be validating her by pushing more and more, which only aggravates her demeanor.
Like I have said, I hope she likes her new friends.
Yes, she has always been against the president. She says he stole the 2000 election -- she was against him before 9/11, and before the war in Iraq.
She actively campaign against him in 2004, and when he won she wrote a letter which indicatd she would not rest until he was impeached and the entire administration was behind bars for war crimes.
In this case, I wish the news media would actually air MORE of her views, I am tired of the "just a little old heartbroken mother who is now being attacked by the big evil right-wing conspiracy because she dared to say she thought Bush was wrong about the war".
HE ISN'T USING HER SON'S NAME.
She claims that if he says that ANY soldier died for a good purpose, it is "using her son's name", unless he specifically says "Except for Casey Sheehan".
In other words, her complaint is that he doesn't specifically say that her son died in vain -- if he doesn't use his name specifically, he is "using her son's name".
She said that Bush had no right to tell the families of the 14 dead marines that they died for a noble cause, because SHE doesn't think HER son did.
In other words, if SHE can't feel good about her son's sacrifice, then NOBODY should feel good about their son's or daughter's deaths.
Well, I noticed that your account has been banned. I am not sure why, because you didn't sound too nasty or transparent to me. I will respond, in the hope that you find your way back here to view this response.
Why would anyone call you "anti-troop" or "un-American"? there must have been something else you wrote in another response, maybe one that was pulled.
That said, you think we sent these troops in without proper planning?
I beg to differ.
In one of the most brilliantly executed campaigns in military history, the allied forces in Iraq took control of the country in an incredibly short period of time, with a minimum of casualties, against a highly militarized totalitarian society. Men were killed, but that is what happens in a shooting war. So, if you think it was poorly planned, I would someday be interested in knowing just how you can back that up. Only one rule. No talking points from the DNC may be used.
I also take issue with the "last resort" comment. How would you define "last resort"? Would attacking Osama Bin Laden on September 10, 2001 have been a "last resort"? Does "last resort" mean that we either attack, or there is a 100% certainty Americans will die if we don't? 99%? 80%? 50%? Does "last resort" mean attacking after we have already been attacked? Or does "last resort" mean further diplomatic efforts are useless?
The truth is, "last resort" is a meaningless phrase.
And "...not wanting our troops to die makes you a thankful and respectful American..." As opposed to what? Those who WANT our troops to die? Who would that be? You think that somehow people who support proactive operations to pre-empt another 9/11 WANT our men to die?
This is the problem with liberals, and Democrats in particular. It is why we must never allow them to hold the reins of power in this country again:
Liberals think the purpose of the military is to be safe, and the the lives of our men and women must never, ever be risked. They believe, in their hearts, that there is nothing that cannot be solved by everyone sitting down, hashing out the problem and shaking hands. They think that we can address the "root causes" and everything will work out for the best. They think if we all link arms, sing "Kumbaya" in a grassy field under the sun, that all will be right with the world.
They are deluded, and dangerous in that belief. In the age of terrorism and WMD, they will get us killed.
Most conservatives believe that there are some people you cannot talk to. There is no discussing "root causes" with these Islamofacist scum. If we pull out of Iraq, they will demand we stop supporting Israel. If we stop supporting Israel, they will say we are destroying their culture, whatever THAT means. If we shut off all communication to the Middle East, blocked all transmissions of data, embargoed every western idea so they never ever heard of us, they would demand something else.
Conservatives, and most military people, understand you stand up to a bully. Liberals don't want to offend a bully.
But just to finish this, what aggrivates me MOST is the suckbags on the left who call the President a "Lying Bastard", such as this lunatic woman who is filled with hate for all things politically conservative. I pity her and wish she could deal with her grief. But she is beyond that. So, I could give a rats ass if the liberals and Democrats don't want to fight. Fine. We will do the dirty work and accept the blame. JUST DON"T GET IN OUR WAY.
I really can't stand "staged" grief. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure her grief is real, but this public whoring is an abomination!
