It's not laughable.
The illegals streaming in here are neither Cuban nor South American professionals who tend to vote R.
They are peasant Mexicans and Guatemalans mostly who tend to vote D by a large proportion.
Why folks want to allow streams of illegals in here who will invariably vote liberal one day beats me.
I prefer my immigrants like the Cubans.....patriots and right thinking.
It ain't brain surgery.
2 points.....all " hispanics" are not a race nor are their cultures the same.....folks make that mistake a lot
second;.....I want immigration limited across the board...not just against illegal hispanics....we;ve had too much since 1970 in my view
Bush is going to leave office without dealing with this.
Al Queada and SCOTUS nominations will fill his plate.
however...after today...again....he should have the good sense to secure the borders.
PERIOD...to hell with offending Fox and FR moderates..lol
Did I say "without immigration" dear?
I said "limited".
Our population has nearly doubled in 35 years.....mostly due to immigration and their spawn.
I do not like the cultural seismic shifts
...but border security is admittedly a much bigger issue right now
thank you
Does it offend you as much when hispanics vote for any politician who will help pad their numbers by supporting illegal immigration?
gee that's funny. Most of the legal hispanics seem to not like illegal immigration....
hmmmm.....
F*ck H*ck.
Lost of luck in your new career, jerkoff, whatever it may be.
as you completely missed what I said and then went in the OTHER direction, I guess I won't try to explain.
This entire argument is based upon an editorial written by Vinson in Middle America News, an anti-immigration newsletter. First, we at the Mike Huckabee President 2008 blog have been dealing with characters like Mr. Vinson for some time now, who all share one thing: they oppose Hispanics, irregardless of their legal status. They rave every time a moderate makes any kind of positive remark about immigrants without first qualifying the remark is about legal immigration, yet these critics themselves turn right around and denounce immigration without qualifying their remarks as being about illegal immigration. For proof, I can refer you to the very editorial you base your argument upon. Mr. Vinsion: "He [Governor Huckabee] praised immigration as a source of America's greatness. If he made any distinction between legal and illegal immigration in that statement, the Arkansas News Bureau account of the speech did not report it." Then just a few lines later, Mr. Vinson complains that Tyson Foods "regularly swamps small towns with immigrant workforces." Are we to assume, then, that by Mr. Vinson's own methodology, because he made no distinction between legal and illegal immigrants, he opposes ALL immigration? Another common characteristic between immigration hawks like Mr. Vinson is that they can rarely resist inserting subtle hate-speech into their rhetoric. Case in point: just look at Mr. Vinson's editorial again, where he asks "Do the people of Arkansas share their Governor's desire to turn Arkansas into a multicultural madhouse?"
So I hope you forgive me if I don't take Mr. Vinson too seriously. He is far more radically opposed to immigration (and I mean all immigration, legal or not) than he accuses Mike Huckabee of being on the opposite side of the issue.
Now for some facts: Governor Huckabee is 100% opposed to illegal immigration and has gone on record many times saying he believes illegal immigrants should be deported. Period. To say otherwise is an outright lie. I offer you this link from the Arkansas News Bureau, the very source Mr. Vinson used to craft his anti-Huckabee editorial (it is highly unlikely that Mr. Vinson missed this when researching his editorial, by the way) http://www.arkansasnews.com/archive/2005/02/03/News/316813.html
Unfortunately, the fact that Mike Huckabee opposes illegal immigration and wants illegal immigrants deported is not enough for people like Mr. Vinson, who view ANY compassion toward immigrants (legal or not) as "treason." Mike Huckabee wants the children of illegal immigrants treated fairly and compassionately. The illegal immigration issue is severely clouded by the fact that many of their children are legal U.S. citizens. Furthermore, because of his pro-life stance, Huckabee believes that any woman, of any race, who needs prenatal care should get it (this is the welfare service Mr. Vinson refers to). If women show up at the health department or emergency room needing prenatal care and are unable to produce proof of citizenship, Huckabee does not believe they should be turned away. This is not a not a service for the mother, but for the human life inside her, which he values regardless of its legal status. We have an additional consideration regarding children when it comes to deportation. When illegal immigrants are caught and deported, which Huckabee supports, their children must be handled compassionately and correctly. A very recent instance of "deportation gone bad" happened in Arkansas just last month (July, 2005) when 30 children were abandoned at schools and daycares in Arkansas by Federal immigration agents who rushed to deport their parents. Huckabee believes these children matter and are worthy of humane treatment. This position is supported on both sides of the aisle, as evidenced by US Senator Mark Pryor's investigation and remarks noted in the attached link. People like Mr. Vinson do not even address these issues in their rants because they either don't care about the children, or they realize that bringing up their plight weakens their hard-line positions. I refer you to this link http://mikehuckabeepresident2008.blogspot.com/2005/08/msm-huckabee-right-on-illegal.html
Incidentally, The Morning News of NW Arkansas, which is linked above, is the flagship newspaper in the very area of Arkansas Mr. Vinson insinuates is opposed to becoming a "multicultural madhouse."
Finally, I will say this. In order to craft an argument that appears to hold water, Mr. Vinson was forced to use half-truths, innuendo, insinuation, and omission of important facts that are easily found and verified. For example, when bringing up the subject of Tyson Foods, Vinson relies on unnamed "numerous critics" who claim Tyson is "not at all particular about the legality of its employees." He did this because the facts do not support his insinuation, which he needed in order to craft a damaging association for Huckabee. The FACT is Tyson Foods was tried and acquitted of charges they hire illegal immigrants. See this link, which Mr. Vinson could have found with a simple Google search http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/03/26/national/main546248.shtml
I do not beleive any further proof of the willingness of you and your ilk to spew lies and misinformation is needed.
