If Cheney gets the okay from his doctors, then he is GO for an '08 run. However, he still needs to be assured of a groundswell of support. If Cheney seriously is considering running, I would think he'd immediately be the #1 contender for the GOP nomination. I kind of like Cheney/Rice to trounce all comers.

Yes, Cheney and Rice. I like that. I wish we had that now.

If a firm FMA gets put into place, that says courts cannot force homosexual marriage on states, Cheney can get as much if not more, support than President Bush got. Without it, it's doubtful.
Don't get me wrong, I love Vice President Cheney!! But for him to get the backing from all the groups President Bush did, the amendment would HAVE to be put in place first.

I highly doubt that Cheney will run. A true statement...a few months ago. However, things have changed. The GOP leadership WANT Cheney.

What GOP leadership? (sarcasm)
To: CaliGirl-R
To rephrase. Those on the inside. Where do you think the source of the Woodward story came from? It certainly did express any desire on Woodward's part for a Cheney run. This was preparation for the Cheney run IF his doctors give him the okay.

Why do you think the Bushes and Bill Clinton are acting like buddies now?
Actually, that's a very good question.

Yesterday when you posted that you had this info and the DUers would go nuts, you are right. I didn't even think of Vice President Cheney because he has said no. I'm not familiar with Woodward and his stories. If this happens, you are going to have DUmmie FUnnie material galore!
To: PJ-Comix
Whoever that freeper on DU is, I wish he would stop talking Hillary down. *snort*chuckle*snort* ;9}

Believe me, Woodward released that story NOT because of any personal support of Cheney on his part. That story was released because of REPUBLICAN information given to him.

Has Andy Stephenson entered a DUmmieland Witness Protection Program? If he really was as sick as he's claimed to be, I wouldn't expect him to be online, but he already blew that by posting the day after his "surgery."

I wouldn't expect him to be online, but he already blew that by posting the day after his "surgery." And by making a cell phone call from ICU (if he was in ICU).

Peter Angelos is involved in the Scamdy story. From what I hear about Angelos, he is a real shmuck.

Oh, for heaven's sakes. Too pro-gay??? However, I believe he won't run. He said he wouldn't. I take him at his word. I don't think Lynn would let him run anyway.

Oh, for heaven's sakes. Too pro-gay??? Yup, there are some in the party, and alot of the "base", who would oppose him because of that issue. Cheney, because of his lesbian daughter, and because he is not in favor of stopping gay marriages via constitutional amendment, is seen as pro-gay, to alot of Republicans, unfortunately.
Now in all likelihood, I DO think he would make an even more formidable candidate than GW, but he'd have to get over that hump, so to speak....

Well, I gotta split out for now. Even though heavy rains are predicted here, I HAVE to get my weekly fix of Jerk Chicken. Only one place here makes it PERFECTLY. Best damn chicken I ever ate.
