Copy of judicial order, page 2: ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that Respondents' Emergency Motion for Petition to Provide Theresa Schiavo with Food and Water by Natural Means is DENIED. Thank you for providing that link. This proves that they're not just denying "life support" but that they are clearly starving this mentally impaired woman to death on purpose and with full intent to do so.

Trust you? I don't think so. Your cynicism is too much for me. I believe the Schindlers.

2279 Even if death is thought imminent, the ordinary care owed to a sick person cannot be legitimately interrupted. The use of painkillers to alleviate the sufferings of the dying, even at the risk of shortening their days, can be morally in conformity with human dignity if death is not willed as either an end or a means, but only foreseen and tolerated as inevitable Palliative care is a special form of disinterested charity. As such it should be encouraged.
You should be proud of the outspokenness of your church.
I've heard nothing from mine, and I've heard nothing from the great evangelical leaders, and nothing from the mainline leaders.
You should be proud despite this great tragedy against life.

It's not too late to make some phone calls, even if only for symbolic purposes at this point.

All Judge Greer ever ordered, so far as I can determine, was to authorize the guardian to withdraw the feeding tube. Period. Then you need to take a look at the court document in post 26. Greer EXPRESSLY and in no uncertain terms forbade giving Terri any food or water BY MOUTH. Don't believe me? Check the court document, with his signature. It doesn't get any more black-and-white than that.

6:7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

This is the same as requiring oxygen be sucked from a room when a person is removed from a respirator.

I've made calls and signed petitions and sent emails and prayed a lot. Short of driving down and getting arrested, I don't know what else to do.

When the law mandates injustice, we are obligated to a) ignore that law, b) resist it and break it whenever possible, and c) eliminate it.

I wonder whether Congress and the President will intervene when it comes time for me to depart this world. Will they pass legislation to keep me alive even though my living will says to terminate life support when there is no hope for recovery?
Um, no, they won't, because - check this out - you, unlike Terri, have a living will.
I cannot believe I have to spell out things like that.

WC: All Judge Greer ever ordered, so far as I can determine, was to authorize the guardian to withdraw the feeding tube. Period. EPP: No, the wording I have seen doesn't even mention "feeding tube", but denies all food and water.
Here is the February 2000 order of the court:
... it is: ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that the Petition for Authorization to Discontinue Artificial Life Support of Michael Schiavo, Guardian of the Person of Theresa Marie Schiavo, an incapacitated person, be and the same is hereby GRANTED and Petitioner/Guardian is hereby authorized to proceed with the discontinuance of said artificial life support for Theresa Marie Schiavo.
To my knowledge, that's the extent of it.
To: winstonchurchill; xzins
winston, you are wrong. The judge prohibited anyone from attempting to feed this woman or give her water by any means including through the mouth.
Judge Greer has not simply ordered this woman to be denied artificial means of support, but also natural means of support. Her parents are strip searched when they go into visit her, lest they give her a drop of water and prolong her life for a second.
This is murder winston.
To: fatnotlazy
If we continue to allow government to intervene in life and death situations like this, soon we will have government deciding for all of us whether we live or die. i>
You might not have noticed, but judges are part of the government.
They have already decided to kill someone.
This woman.
