Thanks for the link to the senator's website. I sent her a lovely e-mail, outlining how influential she was in a teenage boy's life, and the impression she's made on my elderly Mom who can't afford to move out of Florida.
You didn't ask me, but there could be a subtle connection. A disturbed person could pick up unconscious signals. There was murder in the courtroom in Atlanta, and next thing on the big screen in are the murders in the church outside of Milwaukee.
You're welcome. Prepare for her boilerplate denial.
Note to self...invest more heavily in Reynolds Wrap.
I can't argue the point...I have no clue how another persons mind works (just ask my wife), but it seems a stretch.
I'm more apt to believe a shooting in a church is more likely to set off a shooting in a school...one perp...many unarmed targets; that similarity I could see, this one, no.
I readily admit, I have no clue as to why some humans act as they do; something for me to think about.....OK I've thought about it......I still don't know how or why a person would do this, but I resolve to never again leave the house without carrying....ever.
You know, if its true, that's probably good news for Hitler. He sent millions of people to heaven. Isn't that nice? /sarcasm
I chalk it up to collective insanity and dysfunction in our society (not total), the culture, and an unknown x factor.
Growing up, the worst violence I experienced from the media were detective dramas on the radio, cowboy movies (which I loved), and cartoons where there was a lot of road kill. Nobody in my generation took an of that to the next level . . .
I don't have all the answers, and a lot young kids are fed a steady diet of violence on tv and the movies, and don't act out.
There have always been bad incidents if you look in old newspapers, but they didn't get the kind of coverage like they do now, and the frequency was less. There were a lot more suicides than I was aware of back 100 years ago until I started digging through old stuff. Some of it was kept kind of hush hush, not talked about in families. You don't find some of these things until you start going through your family history which intersects with other family histories.
Mass, wanton killing with high body count is rather new though apart from wars.
especially if there are 72 virgins waiting...
