Daniel Pipes, the son of notorious anti-Soviet crusader Richard Pipes, has made a name for himself lambasting Arab politics, urging U.S. military intervention in the Middle East, and warning of the impending threat to U.S. security posed by Islamic extremists. On this last point, the Boston Globe reported, "If Pipes's admonitions had been heeded, there might never have been a 9/11."

Thanks so much for answering my question. In the bio
you posted it says that Richard is the father of Daniel.
When I was in grad school I had to read Richard Pipes and
was impressed by his realistic, no-nonsense assessment
of the Soviet Union before its implosion. He was on the
faculty at Harvard and both he and Daniel are historians
and both served under Reagan. I've always wondered if they
were related, not only because of the name but because
they both think alike. Now I know -- thanks again.
Thanks for the links.. its hightime the french did something to save their own culture other than bitch about US.
