I couldn't help laughing at the stupidity of someone packing up ALL their belongings into a moving van and waiting for the loan to go through on a house. Hasn't the idiot ever heard of a closing date? Processing time? The moron probably KNEW there were problems with his credit and that the loan would be sticky, but yet he parks everything in a Ryder in front of his house anyway?

Maybe he was visualizing his own reality of the sale closing. Anyway, that has to be the single funniest post I've read in a long while. Everytime I read it, tears stream down my cheeks from laughing so hard. And are all his belongs STILL in that moving van?

Wow. Two major thoughts crossed my mind while reading this:

1) If Kerry had won on Election Day, would Free Republic members be posting comments similar to these? Somehow, I doubt it. We don't base our self-worth on a national election. Most of us, anyhow.

2) I'm not sure whether to laugh or just be heartbroken over their comments. I feel for some of those folks - it must suck to be so doomsday and live a life so full of despair. Lordy.

Also ... notice that its all about them and whats happening to them? Blah.

I keep picturing the guy with all his stuff in a moving van as looking like Rev. Jim from Taxi. One of the other show characters would be telling him: "Jim, FIRST you have to sell your home BEFORE you pack your stuff for moving!"

I admit, the DUmmies are funny, but let's not make lite of a real illness.

Depression, anxiety, mood disorders and other mentall illnesses are very real problems, treated by very real doctors, who prescribe very real medications. Unfortunately the stigma attached to mental illness is quite present and quite perverse. You wouldn't laugh and poke fun of a diabetic who needed insulin. Or a cancer victim who needed chemotherapy. But we have no problem holding depressed people and their medications up to be ridiculed and made fun of.

The World Health Organization has reported that by 2010 Depression will be the cause of more lost work days than any other illness (including cold/flu). The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill reports that 1 in 30 Americans will attempt suicide because of an mental illness (diagnosed or undiagnosed).

The postings on the DUmmie FUnnies are amusing. I'm a subscriber to myself. And most of the postings are to be ridiculed and laughed at. But please do not make generalizations about depression.

I'm simply saying that it seems there is a MUCH higher percentage of depressed DUmmies than depressed FReepers. Now, whether they are ACTUALLY clinically depressed, or they're just negative people, I don't know. I suspect the latter.

I did not make light of mental illness or anything of the sort. When real, I'm sure it can be terrible. I know about real neurlogical problems; I have a severely autistic, retarded child.

There was a time when we hospitalized people like this.

These people are more delusional than a close family member of mine that WAS in a mental hospital for years.

They do sound seriously ill and I'm not sure I really believe they are seeing a real psychiatrist, because it sure doesn't sound like they are being helped. The meds are not working.

It is quite scary to read this stuff. DU sounds like a virtual mental ward.

Yes, but because I've spent the day at the funeral home and I'm burying my wife tomorrow. I've been in a depressed funk all week, but I have a tangible REASON. These drug-addled losers are just Leahy'd in the head.
