I'd PAY to have the word "disinfanchised" struck from the English language.
bump
Those Dems. Bloody clever they are.
Chicago doesn't have elections. It has a machine to do that.
Saves all that manual labor.
Keep us updated, and good luck!
I am praying for what it is worth. I don't do that often.
Why would they even bother? Seriously. Kerry and Obama have IL sewn up. I'm sure no local Chicago-area races hang in the balance. Why would this happen?
I heard reports like this from callers on the radio this morning. It was on Rush so it is happeneing widespread.
Why wouldn't they have provisional ballots?
That is pure B.S. & there are #'s to call & report this fraud.
Your prayers are worth something. I'll join you.
Blackfive is no slouch - former Airborne, you know. Will keep you posted. He says "I'm calling my friend who's an editor for the Tribune and another who's an Assistant State's Attorney."
Amen to that..
Good, how do the dems think they can get away with purging republicans off the voter roles? Good grief. I hope Kerry loses big, but the fact that this is close tells me half the nation is beyond screwed up.
Time for Federal prosecution and hard time.
"Why would this happen?"
Force of habit.
Honestly, election night 2000 I thought the dems were trying to steal the election. This year I KNOW they are trying to steal it.
Consider it done.
Sounds like you've got grounds for a lawsuit. Go for it. Hope the RNC helps. (PS: Got the time and money to fly to Wisconsin to do same-day register and vote?)
Blackfives latest update. Glad to hear it worked out. Not happy about the situation, which needs more investigation in my opinion. Smells fishy.
Update 3:30PM CST: Visited the Cook County Board of Elections. There were about fifty people complaining about the same thing. I received the following information:
1. There were hundreds of complaints from the 42nd Ward (my ward), but more from all over the county. Think about that - how many people do you think that were not allowed to vote that did not complain about disenfranchisement.
2. Provisional Ballots were sent to all precincts. More were recently sent to the 42nd Ward locations.
3. I was instructed to go back to my precinct and vote by provisional ballot.
4. After I asked about ten times (all the while sympathizing with the person about how hard her job must be today), I was told that there was a foul up in the County and there could be thousands and thousands of problems in Cook County Precincts.
So, I schlepped back to my precinct, waited another hour in line, had to talk to the same Mensa Candidates about my voter registration (I had my voter card, for pete's sake!) - the best part was when the judge asked me if anyone in the voting area could vouch for my residency and about twenty people shouted at him that they knew me and to give me a damn ballot. FINALLY, I was able to vote by provisional ballot.
There were about ten people around me that also had to endure the same crap to vote by provisional ballot - all claimed to be registered voters and residents. One was the Condo Association President of the very building that we were in, yet the judge wanted more proof.
Here's my receipt for voting on a Cook County/Chicago ballot.
I am so sorry the GOP has let us (and the entire nation) down for so many years by tolerating vote tampering with a wink, a nod, and a sigh.
Kudos to you for pressing on!
Blackfive (not me) teaches law at University of Chicago. He is a h#ll of a guy, and has a great blog. I STILL think there is something wrong at this precinct which needs fixing - why did he get dropped from the register? GRRRR.
