The malice and bullying tactics routinely displayed by many of the posters on this very thread is exacty what critics point to when they call FR a "hate site." Examples?
To: Jim Robinson
Sigh, tis not a NEWS discussion forum anylonger.
I hate it, but it is true.
This is now a chat forum.

Why are you reintroducing deleted material to FreeRepublic?
Because you asked. The post was pulled because it violated the guidelines here.
Your post advocating political violence against a member of the California State Senate definitely violated Free Republic's posting guidelines. Others have been banned for a lot less. That's not consistent.

Some chat. Lots of news. Depends on what you're interested in.

Sabertooth complained about an inconsistency. There are two ways to resolve that inconsistency, and I believe the more generous way is far preferable. I would be very surprised if Sabertooth did not agree.
Like I said, I'm flexible. If FR is to go tabula rasa, I can definitely think of a few posters I'd like to see reinstated.

Because you asked. Ah, I understand now. My name is the first on your list of those you think should be banned.
Well, I guess that's up to Jim. Jim, if you want to ban me, go for it. I await your convenience.

Do you differentiate between "banned" and "suspension"?
To: Jim Robinson
I'll think about it, and perhaps let you know later. It's way past my bedtime now.
To: Texasforever
I'm not about to point out specific examples; I'm not quite that naive. You have to be blind not to see it.
The best and most recent example were the completely hateful comments posted on the McClintock threads. And I say that as a non-Californian who is very glad she didn't have to vote in that particular election.
To: Sabertooth
Your post advocating political violence against a member of the California State Senate definitely violated Free Republic's posting guidelines. And the moderator deleted the post at that time, also in accordance with FreeRepublic's posting guidelines. But, you RE-INTRODUCED THE OFFENSIVE WORDING in the post in this thread that just got nuked. So, I guess both of us need to be banned from the site.

To: Sabertooth
There is a widespread perception of bias in the Moderation at FR. What percentage of the posters at FR would you estimate have this perception of bias?
You make the statement that there is this widespread problem here, yet you don't answer when I ask you to quantify the problem.
Accusations are easy when you don't have to back them up.
To: Jim Robinson
Less chat, more news and serious political analysis, is my interest.
I couldn't care less who has it in for who that got banned for whatever reason. Or that your good friend stabbed you in the back.
I just don't do the gossipy thingy, you know.
You have a good site, Jim, and I thank you for it. But, if it continues in this mode, I will probably move on.
To: Sabertooth
Your post advocating political violence against a member of the California State Senate definitely violated Free Republic's posting guidelines. For the record, I did NOT advocate political violence against any politician in that post. I advocated the killing of a snake. However, due to unclear terminology on my part, a reasonable person could have construed the post as being threatening in nature to a politician, thus it was pulled. I apologized on that thread for posting it.

I can ping you to some terrific news threads.I don't share your view. Some regular features are chat but those take up the minority of space on FR.Do you consider comments on a news article "chat"?

Well, at least you don't have promotional items on your home page.
To: Texasforever
Texasforever, are you trying to pick a fight? Sorry, it's too late for me, and I'm not in the mood.:)
Go back and read my post again.
What I was pointing out was some of the posters on THIS thread are some of the biggest bullies on FR. Much of the recent "debate" on FR is nothing more than a juvenile popularity contest.
To: FreeReign
Accusations are easy when you don't have to back them up. Amen. Its always easier to be a clown in the circus than the ringmaster.
