This is disgusting. Talk about passing the blame. Listen to me now. FEMINISM WAS CAUSED BECAUSE OF MEN BEHAVING BADLY!!!!!
I am no feminist by any means but I believe feminism stemmed from the lack of integrity that men started having. When men became irresponsible, cheating, dishonest, selfish...that is when women found that they had to step up to the plate and provide for their families...because the men were gone!!!

If a man shows integrity, honor, and thinks of the safety and protection of the woman before his selfish needs, he will see that the woman's feminine side is revealed. Women don't feel safe with men anymore so they have to take on the "provide and protect" traits for survival.

Whatever you say, dear. By the way, our civilization is going out of business. We are not replacing ourselves at a rate that would continue our little corner of the species.

We've looked into this, and it turns out that men are not able to have babies. We men realize that you women no longer want that job, but before you go, we wonder if you might suggest someone who could assist us in preventing the loss of our cultural and genetic legacy.

There's no question that you are entitled to have your very own big-screen TV's. Equality demands nothing less. Still, it seems a shame to let such a marvelously inventive and freedom-loving culture vanish from the Earth. So if you have any ideas on who else we might enlist to help us prevent that, do let us know.

In the meantime I suppose we'll have to work on machines that can do it. That's how we men solved the problem of not having wings; perhaps we can deal with a lack of wombs the same way.

In any case, you should go off and enjoy your big-screen TV and not bother your pretty little head about it. This civilization stuff is kind of our bag; we'll figure it out somehow. When we do, it will all be our fault.

When men became irresponsible, cheating, dishonest, selfish...

You mean, since men existed.

"How clever! Toys! Is that what you have?"

Toys/ things, yes that's what I have. They are not me, and do not define me though. They are simply external aquisitions. "Everything" is my life and that of my kid's and grandkid's.

The article and thread simply list burdensome factors that exist, none of which are an excuse for anyone to behave badly. Some of which are imposed by the govm't. The article's conclusion is, "Indeed, feminism is the main cause of the most pressing problems facing western societies." This is false. Feminism is no more than an ideological element of socialist strategy. It's used to obfuscate and obliterate the absolutes of right and wrong. The ideas that are to be replaced by what is politically correct. ie. the subjective, not objective truth.

Behaving involves making a choice and taking action. Whether it's good, or bad depends on objective standards, not the subjective. There is no objectivity whatsoever in applying gender to any of this. Attempting to do so is either an error, or an authoritarian claim.

Most of the posts used gender allegorically, or as fact in their particular stories/descriptions, not as a cause. As far as the idea of gender having any influence on reason, decisiveness, or the ability to comprehend and apply objective morality, I find it doesn't. Without them the nitwits wouldn't have a majority to work with. It is in fact men that do impose the combat power necessary to impose the ideological crap that infests the world.

Dear Nowhere Man:

First, I wish you the very best in your search for a good woman. They are out there, it just sometimes takes a while to find them.

Now, most folks would identify me as a "hippie," or "neo-hippie," if you prefer. I prefer non-intervention to war, am fairly liberal socially (don't infringe upon anyone else's constitutional rights, and I couldn't care less what you do), and might be seen as a "libertine" by many FReepers. Even worse, about half my wardrobe is tie-dyed.

However, I am also a very traditional young lady. I believe that marriage is a solemn promise. I believe that a man needs to be the leader of his family (else, he feels like, and becomes, less of a man), and that a good wife will submit to her husband (and that doesn't demonstrate weakness). I don't see any contradiction between having the same rights and responsibilities as any man, yet being very different from any man.

So, the moral of this story is, "Don't judge a book by its cover." :-)

My dad left when I was three. I married (at the grand old age of 17) a guy who left his son when he wasn't even a year old. Talk about history repeating itself. (He's not a bad person - he was just not ready to be married yet. He has since married a woman who already had 4 kids, and they had another and have been married for 10 years. Everybody needs a chance to grow up - including me.)

So, older and wiser, I take marriage much more seriously (Seriesly! I do!) This time, it's for keeps. Good or bad, happy or saaaad....

Just realized - that makes it sound like a shotgun wedding. It wasn't. We were married 3 years before I got pregnant. It went downhill from there.

Who says we don't want the job of having babies?
You fail to see my point. Men won't take care of women anymore so how are they supposed to stay home to have babies? The woman is just doing what she needs to survive since the men have "checked out" when it comes to responsibility. Never fear, they can always be found at the local strip club wooping it up.

It's too bad this thread was moved to the Smokey Backroom. Your #266 is an excellent post. Will we be seeing as an essay of the week?

Just wanted to let you know here's one woman who agrees with you wholehartedly and have been trying to tell many the same thing. The breakdown of the family this has caused is heartbreaking. In response to Ta Wee, much of what has been said about women being chattel in the old days is simply not true. And why whenever a woman is seen in the role of being a mother and homemaker, do feminists put this down? I thought they were supposed to be for women, but it seems like feminist are only on the side of women that act like men. If women are so great, why is it so horrible to act like one? And as with any struture in society, there can be abuses of the system, but we through out the baby with the bathwater. The way God designed the family with the father as the head works the best (he might know something since he created the whole universe) but cannot work perfectly in this world since we are not perfect. And Jesus was the only true women's liberator. Our children are growing up in a no-man's-land, and it's all the feminists fault.
