Seriously, if ya'll want to start a revolution over whether the rest of us have to live under a fundamentalist theology, bring it on.

Otherwise, suck it up, be a mensch, and vote.

Brave words, but I reiterate using the following words---->

. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security

I have no desire to have you forced into church, you can even openly profess your sexual love for Seabiscuit, just do not expect me to approve of it.

And I do vote, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush among many others.

As much as a vision in the Bible has to do with it.

The Catholic Encyclopedia says that many of the early fathers of the Church made similar deductions about the flatness of the earth from Biblical exegesis.

The earliest Christian literature was so predominantly exegetical that the teachings of the ancients were always tested in order to see whether they were in harmony with Holy Writ. Hence it was that several of the Fathers pronounced in favour of the theory of the flatness of the earth's surface which had been put forward in later Roman cosmographies. Among the advocates of this error were Theodore of Mopsuestia, St. John Chrysostom, Severian of Gabala, Procopius of Gaza, and others. Cosmas Indicopleustes advanced an especially grotesque elaboration of this doctrine. In his exaggeratedly narrow interpretation of the phraseology of Holy Writ he claimed that the world was constructed in the shape of the Tabernacle of the Covenant in the Old Testament.

While you're undoubtedly superior in scientific knowledge to the aforementioned fathers of the Church, setting yourself up as their superior in biblical exegesis is, shall I say, rather more problematic.

Yes, and HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

busted

Very well, then, forget it, and look after yourself.

...and, btw, YOU have continued the practice of discussing freepers "behind their backs," i.e. without pinging them, including in your first post this evening. (Sorry, but "All" doesn't put a post on anybody's "My Comments" page.)

It's true that I simply forget to attend to other freepers who might have been doing this to you, but why should I when you remain an offender yourself?

True, the power of the state is coercive. I suppose you think it's just fine for the state to tell you what part of your wife you're allowed to kiss at home, and what part of you she's allowed to kiss.

The state is illegally coercive. That's why I will not vote for any candidate who ignores the Constitution in any election. They take an oath to defend and protect it, then they ignore it.

Your other statement is funny. I suppose you are referring to the Lawrence (TX) decision recently that struck down sodomy laws. The problem is the 10th amendment, and Article III which limits the power of the judiciary in this regard. There is no consitutional right to sodomy, just as there is no right to incest, pedophilia or polygamy.

The bottom line is that America's founders declared that the Constitution was only suitable for a "moral and religious people" because they understood the sinful nature of men and knew that amoral men would simply rewrite the document according to subjective interpretation (which is precisely what has happened). Without virtue, no Constitution is worth spit, as the ruling authority becomes coercive and arbitrary (SCOTUS has been making up rights as it goes along and stripping others). And it's no secret that virtue is a thing of the past in America - one hardly ever hears the word any more. Virtue has been replaced by narcissistic hedonism, moral relativism, and tolerance (forced acceptance).

Calm down, calm down. We may be on the slippery slope but it's not that bad yet.

Sorry, but I can't find any posts in "the last 3 or 4 pages" (or anywhere else) where I (or "Stulty") was "defending marx and[/or] hitler".

I certainly want to be informed of any such posts so that I can reverse myself and apologize, or denounce any other evolutionists who have been defending Hitler or Marx. Since you assure me that "the last 3 or 4 pages" are "filled [with] evo hitler hugging," I'm most anxious that you alert me to the specific posts.

Thanks in advance!

Fine rant. Nicely done.

Now, back to the subject at hand. Have you had a chance to look over Mike Farris's website about home schooling and see where your state stands?
http://www.hslda.org/hs/state/default.asp

Mike is the General Counsel and Chairman of the Board for Homeschool Legal Defense Agency and the President of Patrick Henry College. He's a constitutional scholar, an ordained minister, and a fine gentleman, a true gentleman. The kind of man Virginians can be proud of.

Yeah, definitely the center of all Christian thought.

By the way, have you ever heard of Claudius Ptolemy?
