Greeley seems to lie an awful lot for a priest. I wonder when his next confession is.

A Sampler of Civil War Literature

In April, 1864, General Nathan Forrest and his men captured Fort Pillow in Jackson, Tennessee. The fort contained 262 African American and 295 white soldiers. It was afterwards claimed that most of these soldiers were killed after they surrendered.

Abraham Lincoln condemned the atrocity but refused to agree to the demands of William Seward (Secretary of State), Salmon Chase (Secretary of the Treasury), Gideon Welles (Secretary of the Navy) and Edwin M. Stanton (Secretary of War), that an equal number of Confederate prisoners should be executed in an act of revenge.

After the war an official investigation discovered evidence that "the Confederates were guilty of atrocities which included murdering most of the garrison after it surrendered, burying Negro soldiers alive, and setting fire to tents containing Federal wounded." However, N was never prosecuted for the offence and he went on to become the first Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

So just what did they win?

Greeley, like many others who are not students of history, mistakenly believe the "war" was fought over the slavery issue. Nothing could be further from the truth.

They're still poor for the most part and not all that well-educated (in Mississippi no one is), but that's not the fault of white Southerners.

Herr Greeley:

I'll bet they know that generalizations based on a small sample size can be as full of crap as a Thanksgiving turkey. If I made a generalization based on the Chicagoites that I have met, I would have to conclude that 50 percent of the population of the Windy City was homosexual. Now...tell the truth... just how many Mississippians do you know?

Does someone say that the Stars and Bars is the flag of a racist revolution to keep black people in slavery?

Methinks Greely wouldn't know the Stars 'n Bars if they were presented to him on a silver platter.

"I contend that all Republicans are racists"
-Andrew Greeley

A little left-wing propaganda sound bite for Mr. Greeley. That's how it works right? Take things out of context to make them fit your agenda?

If it weren't for all those hanging Chads (Chad Beaumont, Chad Jefferson, Chad E. Lee, Jr., and Chad Jackson) the south would have won, just like AllBore many years later. (HAHAHAHA!!)

LOL
