I have no doubts that George Bush is a more principled man, a more honest man, and a more moral man that Bill Clinton, and I do trust Bush as much as I would ever trust any politician. But that isn't saying much. The trajectory that we are on with regard to social policy, foreign policy, governmental influence and interference, etc., is not based on the principles that the Constitution codifies, and is not based on Conservative ideals. Choosing the lesser of 2 evils is the curse of a damned culture.

It's because this Country's leaders have dragged us into gazillions of places all across the globe and intervened where we had NO business being and this includes everywhere from Somolia to Israel to Iraq to Kosovo to Vietnam to (pick your war/conflict/country/police action/UN 'peace'-keeping mission). Unfortunately, you are totally correct. However, it's too late for us to run and hide. We either stand and fight now or suffer more and more losses. It's a horrible situation all around.

If thousands of us "dissapear" in the middle of the night because of state paranoia, they better kill us because we will be back... with a VENGANCE! Oh, I don't think we'll be disappearing quietly. I'm fairly certain there will be many more who will refuse to go quietly into that good night right along with us (while the rest of the herd is entering the cattle cars, that is)
